I am a mother to 5 children and I work at a family camp in the Boundary Waters Canoe Area Wilderness. My husband and I have been married for 16 years.

I love to experiment with recipes, tweaking and changing to suit my family's ever changing tastes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Our annual Christmas carolling party is the one we all love to prepare for. We invite people to go with us to the local nursing home and low income housing developments. We head back to our home for appetizers and goodies. Preparing for this party, with food and decorations is a highlight for our entire family.
My cooking triumphs
Learning to cook was a huge challenge. I did not know how to cook when I met my husband, he taught me. Though the poor man had quite a few "experiments" that he lived through. I have now surpassed those days and love to play in the kitchen!
My cooking tragedies
One of the first meals I tried to make was a recipe I had found for an ocean perch italiano. It was horrible, my dear husband ate it....but I fixed a sandwich as the taste was so bad....I could not stomach it. He was a real trooper and ate the whole thing saying...it wasn't "too bad".

Ida's Lemon Mousse
Wonderful tart flavor. I made it for a group of 50 people, used lime instead of lemon. Piped into pastry shells and decorated with white chocolate flowers, whipped topping and raspberry sauce. I made it for a womens retreat, and they all just raved over its flavor and look. Definitely will make again, varying the flavors for some more fun!!!

Easy Never Forgotten Guacamole
This recipe is creamy and easy to make. We serve it at every party we have, the color stays nice without getting brown. We add a little crushed red pepper for zip, but it is a new family favorite!

Todd's Famous Blueberry Pancakes
This is the first time I have publicly rated a recipe. I am a cook at a family camp and I decided to try this recipe out on our first day of camp. We fed 85 people. I actually added cooked wild rice to the recipe as well....it was a huge hit, people kept asking for more, seemed like I never got away from the griddle. We will definitely be using this one again! Great flavor and texture and cooks up nice and evenly, with no mushy centers!
