Sturdy Whipped Cream Frosting

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
This is the PERFECT cake frosting! I was looking for something a little softer than buttercream, yet sturdy enough to hold its shape. I love the flavor; the almond extract really gives it that special something. Following another reviewer's suggestion, I beat the heavy cream first (in a chilled bowl) to form stiff peaks, then added it to the other mixed ingredients. I paired this with the White Almond Wedding Cake recipe, and it is to die for!!

White Almond Wedding Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2011
This cake is fantastic!! Following a reviewer's suggestion, I used Greek yogurt instead of sour cream; everything else I left the same. Love the touch of almond flavoring. I made these cupcakes for a coworker's birthday, and everybody loved them! I've already forwarded the recipe to 5 people who requested it. This is my new go-to recipe for white cake!!

Vanilla - Chocolate Powdered Sugar Frosting

Reviewed: May 4, 2011
This frosting is delicious! I followed other reviewers' suggestions and used 3 tablespoons of cocoa powder. Added milk by the teaspoon until it was the consistency I wanted. Turned out perfect! This was enough frosting for about 21 cupcakes, so I would double the recipe if frosting a layer cake. Will definitely use this recipe from now on!

English Trifle to Die For

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2011
I made this for the first time for Easter and it was a HUGE hit! I took some other reviewers' advice and added vanilla to the custard, and vanilla & sugar to the whipping cream. I'm not sure if I cooked the custard long enough, since it was a bit runny (will add a little cornstarch w/ milk next time). I put sliced strawberries in one layer, and bananas & kiwis in the next layer. Even though it was a little "soupy", it still tasted DELICIOUS and everybody loved it!

Sweet and Sour Meatballs

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
Sooo good! I used 2 lbs. of frozen meatballs from Costco (I think they were chicken teriyaki meatballs), along with the chili sauce, grape jelly & lemon juice. I made them for our holiday potluck at work, and they went FAST! No leftover meatballs for us.

Christmas Breakfast Sausage Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 28, 2010
Great recipe! I followed the advice of a few reviewers and increased it to 6 eggs, and used 1 cup of half & half instead of 2 cups milk. Couldn't find the Jimmy Dean maple sausage, so I used regular JD sausage. Also sprinkled extra cheese on top. This tasted even better the day after I baked it! Will definitely make this for Christmas breakfast again.

Amazingly Easy Irish Soda Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 27, 2010
Loved this bread! I substituted 1 c of wheat flour for 1 c of the flour, and only used a few tablespoons of the butter/buttermilk mixture to brush on top. Also sprinkled some oats on top before baking. This is a great tasting Irish soda bread. I tried another recipe first, but it was really bland. This one is just right!

German Apple Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 17, 2009
This cake is fantastic! I didn't make any changes to the recipe, and I thought it turned out perfect. I like how the top of the cake has a slight crunch to it. I also sprinkled a dusting of powdered sugar on top. Everybody loved it!!

Floating Island Punch

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2009
This was the best punch ever! I also made modifications based on other users' reviews. I omitted the sugar water & carbonated water, substituted pink lemonade concentrate & raspberry punch concentrate, used raspberry sherbet instead of orange, and used 2 liters of ginger ale. I think the raspberry flavor, along with the cherry juice, is what makes this punch so great. Everybody loved it! This was my first ever attempt at making punch for a party, and I'll definitely make it from now on.

Broiled Tilapia Parmesan

Reviewed: Jul. 8, 2008
Very tasty! I thought the celery salt was a little overbearing, so I used less the next time I made it & it was perfect. I also just put the topping on the fish & baked it, rather than the broil method. Great recipe, I've been making it every week!

Gourmet Mushroom Risotto

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
This is fantastic!! My first attempt at making risotto, and it turned out great. It is very creamy and full of flavor. I don't usually like mushrooms, but they were so good in this recipe that I didn't even pick them out. The only thing that was difficult was finding a store that sold Arborio rice! Everyone loved it & I've made it 3 times in the last month. Thanks for this wonderful recipe!!

Shepherd's Pie VI

Reviewed: Jul. 30, 2007
Great recipe! I've never had shepherd's pie, so this was a first. I took the suggestions of some other posters (such as adding garlic & worcestershire sauce to the meat, and adding brown gravy mix). I also used a package of frozen peas instead of carrots. My husband LOVED this & could not stop eating! I like how you can vary the recipe & put pretty much whatever you want in. Will definitely make again!

Chinese Chicken Salad

Great recipe! Didn't have to change a thing. My husband loved it, especially the walnuts (most salads have almonds or peanuts). I think we'll be making this every week!

Dawn's Candied Walnuts

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2003
These are delicious!!! Not only are they great by themselves, but I also put them in salad w/ raspberry vinaigrette dressing. I will definitely make them at Christmas to share with my family & friends! Even if you aren't a nut lover, you will love these because they are more like a candy.

Raspberry Vinaigrette Dressing

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2003
This is the best raspberry vinaigrette ever, and it's so simple! The 2nd time I made it, I used Spelnda instead of sugar, and it was still great. I use it on a spring mix with carmelized walnuts. Nobody can get enough of it!!
