About this Cook
young college student. i want to open my own bakery. i'm finishing school going got my BA in general business. baking is my stress reducer, i love making soul food for others.
My favorite things to cook
cookies, cupcakes, and tarts. i also LOVE making Greek style foods and i thoroughly enjoy Italian. i'm sad that we will never be able to get that same taste. but i'm looking forward to my little backyard garden thriving and making my cooking more juicy and flavorful :D
My favorite family cooking traditions
my mom makes new gingerbread cookies once every three or so years to decorate the garland in the kitchen for Christmas/ my brother sister and i get to decorate the little stockings, hats, and mittens with colored royal icing. she then hangs them up for a couple years before we make new ones all over again.
My cooking triumphs
for a fiends 20th birthday i felt it needed to be very special as she is the baby of our group and we were all 21 before her. i made a double layer cake, with mini cupcakes on the top made to look like pieces of sushi on a sushi platter. it was my second time ever making my own fondant and it turned out amazingly well :D it took four hours and it was SO worth it.
My cooking tragedies
for another birthday i used a red velvet recipe but made it with blue instead as i wanted it to be underwater themed cupcakes. unfortunately my oven turned off before they were done and when i finally got it working again, the combination of the recipe and the frosting recipe... it was just too much sugar and it cooked weirdly. in the end it made fantastic birthday cake french toast.
