My initial intent for this blog was not so much to pass on recipes or show results of recipes I tried. In my previous entries, I have shared some of my knowledge about foods in an effort to encourage everyone to learn the importance of diet and how it relates to our health. I have to admit that I have been a bit discouraged by comments requesting .gov and .edu references for everything. As far… MORE

In my last post, I talked a little bit about GMO foods, and hopefully, gave you enough information to spark an interest so you would do more research on your own. The internet has a wealth of information, but we need to analyze multiple sources that include medical studies and journals and… MORE

Sorry I haven't kept up with this blog too well as my mother with dementia is now living with us and has taken a lot of my time. I feel that education about GMO foods that our government has pretty much hidden from the people of our country has to be spread so that people know about it. Most… MORE

So far we have covered some of the benefits of long fermentation and parts of the grain seed and their benefits, but we still need to know what happens when we make bread. How do all of the ingredients work together and how do different ingredients affect the outcome of the finished product?… MORE

In the last few years, there have been many debates, opinions, and some research on the subject of whether whole grains are good or bad. Many people have chosen to avoid eating grain all together rather than do the research to find out why grain might be detrimental to our health. Although… MORE

I have seen so many bread recipes comments that people have used whole grain flours in recipes that used short fermentation and raising times and more yeast thinking that they are… MORE

In the last couple of years, I have done extensive study in a number of areas concerning healthy eating. In my studies, I have found it incredible that so many of the common health issues have been caused by diet, and how many of these problems can be either prevented or even cured by… MORE

About Me
I breed large parrots, like to write, raise most of our veggies, completed my AS degree at 65, enjoy cooking specialty dishes and baking bread. I have done extensive study of cooking and eating healthy.
My favorite things to cook
I get bored with cooking daily meals, but enjoy making specialty and new dishes. I also enjoy baking breads from scratch using freshly ground flour made from various grains that I buy in bulk.
My cooking triumphs
One of my cooking triumphs was baking whole grain breads that are light, tasty, and healthy.
