Moroccan Couscous

Reviewed: Apr. 23, 2013
This came out delicious, and I even had to change a few things due to lacking ingredients. I did not have zucchini, but I had an orange bell pepper which was great. I also only had regular raisins, and they came out well. I added a dash of balsamic vinegar as another reviewer suggested and I used pearl couscous instead of the small kind. I might do a little less cayenne next time as it was not unpleasantly spicy, but it was spicy enough to make our noses run! I baked up some white fish, broke it up in pieces and mixed it in to make a lovely meal. :-)

Smoked Salmon Pasta with Scotch

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2013
I was disappointed in the way this recipe came out. The only thing I changed was to add mushrooms and asparagus because of the lack of color and vegetables in the original recipe. Anyway, the scotch did NOT light as the directions said, no matter how we tried! The taste at the end was akin to tuna noodle casserole-- very boring and bland. I had to add some capers to the leftovers to give it some flavor.

Candied Bacon

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2013
Delicious! I doubled the maple syrup as was suggested by other reviewers. I also had to use almost 2 batches of glaze while cooking my bacon. This was kind of a high maintenance recipe because of the flipping/basting every 5 minutes, but man, was it worth it! I cut it up in bit-size pieces and took it to a party. It was awesome to see people's eyes get wide when they tried it and say, "Oh my god!" and "Holy **, that's good!" I would definitely make this again-- it was a crowd pleaser.

Non-Edible Cinnamon Ornaments

Reviewed: Dec. 4, 2012
These came out well-- VERY smelly! Mine took at least 4 days to dry. After drying, I decorated mine with glitter glue and fabric paint. Very cute!

Turkey and Quinoa Meatloaf

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2012
This came out GREAT! I added some chopped mushrooms with the sauteed onions, and I added a few squirts of bbq sauce into the mixture. I also added maybe 1/2 cup of sharp cheddar. My quinoa needed about twice as much water as listed to cook. I mixed brown sugar and ketchup and put on top instead of the listed topping. Once put together, it was awesome!

Slow Cooker Salisbury Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 24, 2012
This recipe came out GREAT! I followed the recipe exactly, with the exception that I added a few glugs of Worcestershire sauce to the meat, and added some sliced mushrooms when I put the patties in the crock pot. Soooo good with mashed potatoes and broccoli! :-)

Tomato Zucchini Casserole

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2012
I just made this for the second time. The first time I made it and it was only okay. But this time it was AWESOME! I did cut up the zucchini and beefsteak tomato, and I also cut up some portobello mushrooms thinly and used some asparagus that I had in the fridge. This was a great combination of veggies! In my casserole I made a layer of zucchini, then mushrooms and asparagus, and then tomatoes before the topping went on. It came out really well. My cheese was a mixture of cheddar and parmesan and mozzarella, and I added dried parsley and red pepper flakes to the mixture. Try it!

Emily's Chipotle Chili

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2012
This came out pretty well! I made this recipe with chorizo, ground turkey, and ground beef. I also doubled the chipotle chilis and added some extra adobo sauce. I also added a can of corn, which I think was a great addition! I have a smaller crock pot, so I could not fit all of the chili in my slow cooker. So, I had to cook what couldn't fit in a pot on the stove. I cooked it on low for about 40 minutes. I ate some of it for lunch, and it was delicious! Honestly, I think that the chili that I made on the stove turned out better than the chili I ate 8 hours later from the crock pot! I think some of the chipotle smokiness and the other flavors were too subtle after 8 hours. Next time, I think I will just cook it a little while on the stove. Serve with sharp cheddar, and it's awesome!
