The Best Rolled Sugar Cookies

Reviewed: Nov. 23, 2007
I halved the recipe and was able to make about 18 cookies, 2.5 inches in diameter. They turned out fabulous and a plate of them that were iced with cream cheese frosting disappeared in about 2 minutes!

Corn Dogs

Excellent batter. Make sure the hot dogs are really dry before trying to coat. I turned the leftover batter into hush puppies. YUM!

Chicken Parmigiana

Reviewed: Feb. 26, 2007
Super easy and totally yummy. I pounded the chicken flat to about an inch thick and salted and peppered the bread crumbs (I used plain). The only thing I'd like to figure out is how to make the chicken breading crispy on all sides. The breading on the bottom got a bit soggy, but the top was nice and crunchy.

Banana Crumb Muffins

Reviewed: May 21, 2006
Oh my gosh, these are the best dang muffins ever. Very fluffy. I added a dash or two of cinnamon to the batter, plus a dash of high quality vanilla. They're heaven when warm.

Original Nestle® Toll House® Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jul. 27, 2009
I used a mix of half bread flour and half all purpose, for a chewy, but not too chewy texture. Perfectly crisp edges, gooey center.

Down Home Macaroni and Cheese

Reviewed: Nov. 26, 2005
Very good. I used crumbled crackers on top and that worked out pretty well, but I think it's just fine without putting the cheese or crackers/breadcrumbs on top. Nice as leftovers too

Apple Crisp II

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2009
Delish. Cut the recipe in half, used 6 apples: 3 honeycrisp and 3 granny smith. Added fresh nutmeg to the apples and a dash of cinnamon to the crumble topping. Excellent served with dulce de leche ice cream.

A Good Easy Garlic Chicken

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2008
Very good! Reminds me a lot of "Chicken on the Barbie" from Outback Steakhouse. I didn't have garlic powder so I just smashed a clove of garlic with the back of my knife and let it warm up along with a butter/olive oil combination in the pan. Then when they got kinda soft and oil was hot I took them out so they wouldn't burn and ruin the flavor. I did make a pan gravy from flour, milk, and added pepper. Wasn't entirely necessary though, the chicken was so flavorful. Next time I will probably serve with BBQ sauce on the side and probably won't do a pan sauce. I'll probably add some cayenne to the salt/powder mix to spice it up a bit.

I needed to thin this out with about a 1/4 cup of water at the end. Delicious!

Simple Savory Pork Roast

Reviewed: Nov. 3, 2004
Very quick and easy and VERY tasty. I scaled down the recipe for a 1lb roast. I actually had to cook this for about an hour and 10-15 minutes...cooking time for larger roasts may be longer.

Chicken Fried Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 16, 2004
This is a great recipe. First of all, I divided the recipe by 3 to feed myself and my fiance. We also left out the potato flakes and used a slightly higher amount of seasoning salt. Fiance LOVED this. I personally am somewhat scared of chicken and so it takes a pretty good recipe for me to eat ALL my chicken. Will definitely make again. Served with corn on the cob and salad.

Artichoke & Spinach Dip Restaurant Style

Delish! Added a couple of shakes of cayenne pepper and several twists of fresh ground pepper...VERY GOOD! Also, don't attempt to use canned spinach. There is a HUGE difference, as I learned recently.

Chicken Milano

Reviewed: Nov. 8, 2008
Pretty good! I did modify just slightly: added about a tablespoon of parmesan cheese. The reason I give it four stars is that it took three pans to make it. It didn't produce all that much sauce. But I think the sauce can be very flexible...adding mushrooms/artichokes along with the chicken would be good, and I think that it could easily be made vegetarian by sauteeing up a portobello mushroom instead, and using veggie broth.

Butterscotch Oatmeal

Reviewed: Oct. 25, 2009
Very good. Addition of the egg makes this creamier without using half/half or heavy cream. However, it's even MORE filling than normal oatmeal, given the protein added by the egg. Modifications for me: 1/4 c. + 1 T of brown sugar, sprinkling of cinnamon, dash of vanilla, and fresh grated nutmeg. Made it at night with the plan to reheat in the AM!
