Sour Cream Blueberry Coffee Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2014
Okay. i made this exactly as written. Couple things. The texture was really nice. it was light and fluffy. However, I didn't get the topping done just right - and i thought it needed more blueberries and less of the top brown sugar stuff. i little sweet for me.

Mediterranean Quinoa Salad

Reviewed: May 7, 2014
The concept of this is pretty good. I thought there was too much lemon in it and the quinoa didn't quite cook with all the water. Personally I loved the quinoa with ONE bouillion. it was so tasty. I think 2 would have been overkill IMO. If I made it again, I would cut the lemon down for sure and add more green onion. I didn't measure anything but I only had 8 kalamatas and that was plenty.

Basil Shrimp

Reviewed: May 5, 2014
This was okay, not great. I took reviewer's advice and halved the mustard but the lemon was my problem. Too strong and wasn't balanced for me.

Salmon with Lemon and Dill

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2014
I made this as written But with the suggestion to put the dill in the sauce. There was too much lemon. Now maybe reviewers weren't using fresh lemon but I TBS of fresh lemon would have been plenty IMO.

German Pork Chops and Sauerkraut

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2014
Blech. My porkies were dry and the mixture of sauer with the apple and onion just didn't work. All I tasted was sauer. I took someone's advice and didn't add all the brown sugar. That might have helped had I used more, I guess. BUT the recipe doesn't specify how big a porkie. Mine were pretty thick and I browned them against my better judgment. I think if had just thrown it all in the oven, my pork would have been perfect. I only cooked them for 40 min. too....

Slow Cooker Adobo Chicken with Bok Choy

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2013
This was really good. I made it the night before and let it sit in the fridge overnight. I added 2 TSP of BS after reading that it was sour. Other than that, meat fell off the bone. Lots of liquid tho. I wish that my pot wasn't so full bc I would have doubled the bok choy. So I added one whole bok and about half of a small purple cabbage. I served it with smoked basmati rice. Delish!

Best Grilled Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2013
Good but salty and I used low sodium soy, too. We marinated them 24 hours - maybe that was it? there's a lot of marinade. I think it would do more than 8 porkies.

Addictive Sweet Potato Burritos

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2013
I liked it but hubby wasn't a fan. I followed other suggestions like mashing beans ahead of time and i put the whole thing in my FP to make it more uniform. I didn't add a lot of cheese trying to save calories but it would have been yummier with more (-:

Cranberry and Cilantro Quinoa Salad

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2013
It was pretty good. I just wasn't a total fan - seemed a little dry and lacking some punch. COuld it be that I didn't mix the curry into the quinoa? I prepped veggies ahead of time so all I had to do was mix it in the next day after the quinoa was cold

Pork Chop Hominy Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 27, 2013
Made this last week but I wasn't able to post on my iPad. )-: Do not buy white hominy with this dish. It was so ugly on the plate. All white. If you are trying to introduce people to hominy, this might do it. It's good for kids IMO but it lacked umph for me. Maybe some vegetables, green onion? Also, there was no size of pork so how can you cook it for an hour without the pork being rubber? I could see this used with a pork loin. there was plenty of sauce left over.

Chicken Jalfrezi

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
This was good. And as far as spicy goes, I wouldn't say this was spicy at all -- flavorful, yes. I used a smoked basmati rice. I also added some red/green bell peppers to it after the tomatoes. It makes a lot of sauce and 1.5 lbs of thighs is really not enough to appreciate all the sauce, ya know?

Honey Hoisin Pork Chops

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2013
It was salty IMO. I don't see a way around that using oyster sauce.

Baked Dijon Salmon

Reviewed: Jan. 7, 2013
This was really good. Whoever said it wasn't spicy and was bland, I have to disagree. I think this would convert anyone who doesn't like salmon. However, you need to watch what you serve with it. the flavor was more subtle after I started eating my salad with italian dressing. I think a nice basmati rice with simple seasoning would be nice with this and maybe a green veggie lightly seasoned, like broccoli. The only sub I made was to use Panko and I highly recommend that

Ham, Potato and Broccoli Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2013
I used tator tots. Cooked for 15 min at 425 and then added everything else, inc the poupon. I didn't have any milk so I subbed some sour cream and water and mixed it all together. I had some leftover kidneys and added those but they didn't really add to it. I liked the broccoli. I only had one head - wish I had more, and some onions

Hearty Harvest and Ham Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2012
I'm sorry, this wasn't for me. I just didn't care for the spices in it. I also didn't have a liquid problem. Cabbage creates water. I chopped the carrots, literally. One of the photos I looked at, the pieces were very large. I subbed zuc for the green bc I didn't have any but other than that, followed the recipe.

Cherry Chicken Lettuce Wraps

Reviewed: Jul. 5, 2012
Very good! I would definitely omit the honey. Don't need it bc of teriyaki sauce. Also. IMO it needs soy but we didn't have any )-: used ground chicken and liked that a lot. I will make this again with water chestnuts (didn't have any) - that's what happens when u let the husband do the shopping....

Best Buttercream Frosting

Reviewed: Apr. 25, 2012
I read the reviews about cooking it long enough. I feel I did that. I let it cool to room temperature and I did not care for the consistency. I feel like that is the reason why there were bits of it in the frosting, plus I really didn't care for the texture of it.

I made this in my breadmaker! I used a whole can of chopped black olives and then tore up a few calamatas. Came out beautifully....and it's gone....same night!
