Bacon and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2006
This was great soup. My husband had potato ham soup at a pub and wanted me to make it. This was the closest to what he described. The only change I made was to add ham in place of the bacon. I added the ham (about 3 cups) about 5 minutes before adding the cheese. I only had a block of cheese so I just added small chunks of cheese (did not want to get the grater out) and it turned out just fine. When making this make sure you stir it a little more often after adding the cheese to ensure it does not burn. My husband said it was even better than the pub’s soup!!

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2006
Hands down the best crust I have had. I made a chicken-wing pizza as well a traditional one and they were both equally good. When it was baking it smelled just like a pizza shop in the kitchen. Will be my new crust recipe!!!

I made this for a Mary Kay party and it was a hit. I added yellow peppers and used red onion. Next time I will use a little more tomato I think.

Apple Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
This was very good. I took it to a Fall dinner get-together at a friends and everyone loved it. It is best warm!!! I did make two small adjustments. I left out the nuts and I was 1/2 cup short on white sugar so I used a little brown sugar. Will be a Fall favorite at my house!!!

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
OH MY GOSH!!! This was wonderful. I followed the directions with only a little change. I doubled the sauce and when the sauce was done, I was still waiting on the side dishes. To keep the chicken warm, I put it in the sauce and spooned the sauce over it and left it sit in the pan with the lid on for about 10 minutes. Also I did not have cream so I used half & half. I will not be ordering Chicken Cordon Blue out ever again. No other will be able to compare.

Slow Cooker Cheesy Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2006
These were great. I followed the directions. I forgot to spray the pan first and it stuck bad. Next time I will not make the same mistake. I used cheesy french onions as that was all I had and it was great. Will definately be a holiday favorite in our house.

Oven Beef Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
This was wonderful!! I did make a few very small changes. First I doubled everything. After browning the meat I added about 3/4 cup red wine to the pan and let it simmer about 5 minutes. I added a clove of garlic to the soup mix as well as a little boulion and stired the mixture a couple times. Like suggested I also added corn and a little more water when I added the rest of the veggies. This will be a family favorite for years to come.

Red Wine Flavored Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
This was wonderful. I did make a couple small changes as suggested by others. I added mushrooms, thyme, 2 bayleafs, and a little garlic. I also added boulion but will not next time as it made it too salty. I strained off the juice and thickened it to make gravy and put it over noodles and the beef. Steamed green beans with butter and almond slivers finished off the meal well.

Chicken Fettuccini Alfredo

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2006
This is definitely a recipe I will use over and over. A sure family favorite. I did not use sour cream and half the salt. I added broccoli that I had blanched when I added the chicken and it was great addition. Next time I add broccoli I will use a little less chicken as I like it a bit saucier.

Turkey Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2007
This was great. The gravey mix really added to the consistancy as well as the flavor. I like a little more liquid in my soup so I added more water (about 1 1/2 cups and 2 boulion cubes). I also added corn and as others suggested I used a bag of noodles. Vill be using this over and over. I will also try using chicken.

Mom's Zucchini Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
I have made this several times over the past couple years and have always been more than happy. I use half oil and half apple sauce, half brown sugar and an extra cup of zucchini to make it a little moister. Great flavor and texture.

Amazing Chicken

This was super good. I only made two slight changes. First I used Reduced Fat Miracle Whip and second a used a little Rance Dressing mix with the Miracle Whip. Super good and moist. My 8 year old made most of it with very little help.

Almost No Fat Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 18, 2008
Very good and moist bread. I did make a couple small adjustments. I used egg beaters instead of the egg. I did not have enough banana so I increased the applesauce to compensate. I forgot to add nuts which I will be sure to remember next time.

Apple Squares

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2008
This was great. I doubled the recipe and it was still gone in a flash. I added more apples (almost double). Make sure you watch the time close because you do not want to over bake it. I like it best a little warm (just pop in the microwave for a few seconds) with a little vanilla icecream or cool-whip on top. My kids and I are making it again today and I bet it is gone by dinner.

Hash Brown Casserole II

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2008
My aunt has made this for several years for our Christmas get-together and this year I decided to try it myself for my Christmas Eve Party. They were great. I did chance a couple things based on other reviews. I used cream of mushroom soup and the french fried onions. Everyone loved them. I like my a little crisp so I cooked them a little longer. Will be making again.

Harvest Rice Dish

This is easily one of the best side dishes I have ever had. Took a little time to make, but well worth the time. I only used one onion as we are not big onion eaters and it was still great.

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
We had this for Sunday dinner and it was wonderful. I simply put it in the oven and left to go skiing. When we came home the house smelled great and the turkey was so moist we did not even need the gravy I made with the drippings. This will be how our turkey is made each time not. I am using the left-overs to make Turkey Noodle Soup (from this site) tonight.
