Garlic Top Sirloin Pot Roast

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
This was an okay meal. I followed the recipe pretty much. Next time I think I may add a splach of wine with the water to add a bit more flavor. Won't be one of our favorites, but is something I will try again. Maybe with some small changes I will add it to our favorites.

Lemon Garlic Tilapia

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2007
This was wonderful. I am not a fish eater, but have been trying a few different ones as a healthier option to always having red meat. This will be a family favorite for sure. My 6 year old had 4 helpings!!! I made a few changes as noted by others. I added more garlic (we love it), used a little more than half a stick of butter, increased the lemon juice (almost tripled), and added parm cheese as well as sea-salt and pepper. When it was done I broiled it for about 5 minutes to make it a little crispy.

Turkey Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2007
This was great. The gravey mix really added to the consistancy as well as the flavor. I like a little more liquid in my soup so I added more water (about 1 1/2 cups and 2 boulion cubes). I also added corn and as others suggested I used a bag of noodles. Vill be using this over and over. I will also try using chicken.

Creamy Tomato And Cream Cheese Soup

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
I made this for a work surprise party and it was the hit of the party. I made it the night before and decided I wanted it a bit smoother. In the morning I put it in the blender to and then into my slowcooker and off we went. People are still talking about it!! I ony made a couple small changes: I used 8oz. of cream cheese (as suggested) and I did not have enough beef stock so I added 2 cups of water and 3 boulion cubes. Aside from that I dod as told.

Rosemary Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
We had this for Sunday dinner and it was wonderful. I simply put it in the oven and left to go skiing. When we came home the house smelled great and the turkey was so moist we did not even need the gravy I made with the drippings. This will be how our turkey is made each time not. I am using the left-overs to make Turkey Noodle Soup (from this site) tonight.

Haddock Au Gratin

Reviewed: Jan. 29, 2007
Please keep in mind I am not a fish eater. I was not impressed. I felt the sauce was too thick and as others said missing something. for all the fat anc cal. involved it just is not worth it. I also felt it was too buttery as there was butter floating to the sides of the pan when it cooked. I will not try it again.

Very good, but very rich. A little goes a long way!!! My 6 and 11 year lod made this with a little help from me for a Christmas Eve family get-to-gether and it was a hit. They put crushed candycanes on top.

Red Wine Flavored Beef

Reviewed: Jan. 6, 2007
This was wonderful. I did make a couple small changes as suggested by others. I added mushrooms, thyme, 2 bayleafs, and a little garlic. I also added boulion but will not next time as it made it too salty. I strained off the juice and thickened it to make gravy and put it over noodles and the beef. Steamed green beans with butter and almond slivers finished off the meal well.

Oven Beef Stew

Reviewed: Dec. 20, 2006
This was wonderful!! I did make a few very small changes. First I doubled everything. After browning the meat I added about 3/4 cup red wine to the pan and let it simmer about 5 minutes. I added a clove of garlic to the soup mix as well as a little boulion and stired the mixture a couple times. Like suggested I also added corn and a little more water when I added the rest of the veggies. This will be a family favorite for years to come.

Slow Cooker Cheesy Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2006
These were great. I followed the directions. I forgot to spray the pan first and it stuck bad. Next time I will not make the same mistake. I used cheesy french onions as that was all I had and it was great. Will definately be a holiday favorite in our house.

Quick Country Cupboard Soup

Reviewed: Oct. 17, 2006
This was a good variation to the chicken soup I usually make. I did make a couple changes to the recipe. I did not have boneless chicken so I boiled the chicken in 5 cups of water first and then when it was almost cooked (about 15 minutes) I took it of the bone and cut it. I then added the rest of the ingredients as stated with the exception of the hot sauce (I did not any). Also, I only used 1 package of onion soup, added about ¼ cup of white wine and 1 tsp. Rosemary. Next time I think I will cut the potatoes in small chunks instead of slicing them.

Chicken Cordon Bleu II

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
OH MY GOSH!!! This was wonderful. I followed the directions with only a little change. I doubled the sauce and when the sauce was done, I was still waiting on the side dishes. To keep the chicken warm, I put it in the sauce and spooned the sauce over it and left it sit in the pan with the lid on for about 10 minutes. Also I did not have cream so I used half & half. I will not be ordering Chicken Cordon Blue out ever again. No other will be able to compare.

Apple Bread

Reviewed: Oct. 14, 2006
This was very good. I took it to a Fall dinner get-together at a friends and everyone loved it. It is best warm!!! I did make two small adjustments. I left out the nuts and I was 1/2 cup short on white sugar so I used a little brown sugar. Will be a Fall favorite at my house!!!

This was way to runny for me. Also it was a bit hot. My sister liked it however so I gave it a 3. I will not make it again.

Daddy's Sausage and Peppers

Reviewed: Feb. 25, 2006
This was great. I followed the recipe exactly and am glad I did. My husband said it tasted like something he had in a restaurant only better. Even my kids who do not eat peppers and onions if they know they are there ate them. My 10 year old commented that they did not taste like peppers. We had it over pasta with a salad. I can’t wait to try it again this summer with peppers and onions fresh from our garden!!!

Bacon and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2006
This was great soup. My husband had potato ham soup at a pub and wanted me to make it. This was the closest to what he described. The only change I made was to add ham in place of the bacon. I added the ham (about 3 cups) about 5 minutes before adding the cheese. I only had a block of cheese so I just added small chunks of cheese (did not want to get the grater out) and it turned out just fine. When making this make sure you stir it a little more often after adding the cheese to ensure it does not burn. My husband said it was even better than the pub’s soup!!

Smothered Beef Short Ribs

Reviewed: Feb. 24, 2006
I was not impressed with this. Part of it may have been the cut of meet, but the sauce just did not have enough flavor to cover the greese of the meet cut. This is not something I would try again.

Jay's Signature Pizza Crust

Reviewed: Feb. 18, 2006
Hands down the best crust I have had. I made a chicken-wing pizza as well a traditional one and they were both equally good. When it was baking it smelled just like a pizza shop in the kitchen. Will be my new crust recipe!!!
