About this Cook
Grew up farming/ranching, became a horse trainer. Got saved at 40. Youth Ministry for 10yrs. Church business management for 10yr. Retired.
My favorite things to cook
I have an outdoor kitchen equiped with a smoker, BBQ grill(wood fired) a commercial 4 burner cook top. Built a wood fired pizza oven this year. Also have a small gas grill. Still learning new things to cook in the pizza oven. It's will do a lot more than bake a pizza. I like a variety of cuisines. My wife and I like most foods so we experiment with lot's of recipes.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Midwest farm country, meat and potatoes comfort food.
My cooking triumphs
Crab and shrimp boils have become annual affairs as well as a killer shrimp scampi.
My cooking tragedies
I had a rolled roast on a rottisorary in the winter in SD. I went inside to get something and when I came back it was on fire and charring. I grabbed the spit and stuck it in a snow bank, scrapped off the burnt crust and served it. Everbody thought it was great. Little did they know.

Homemade Tomato Sauce I
It's the second year for this recipe. Used 35, 3/4 to 1# Big Boy Tomatoes. Chopped 3 Jalepeno peppers for a little kick. 1 tbl. salt, 1 tbl. oregano. Second simmer was 4 hrs., uncovered, to get thickened. Produced 36, 4oz. servings. Great!

Basic Crepes
I've wanted to try crepes for a long time. WOW! This recipe was easy and outstanding. I sliced up some bananas in brown sugar and butter as well as apricot and strawberry preserves for a variety of filling. Rolled up and topped with whipped cream. My wife was impressed.

Blackberry Cobbler
I do most of the cooking since my wife still works. I haven't baked very much. Porter Peaches are in season here in Ok so used them. Peeled 7 to get 4 c. Followed the recipe exactly. Results were perfect. I took them to a cook out. None left. Great!
