This recipe was good but it was not Ropa Vieja, which is why I'm only giving it a three. I live in Tampa, FL where there are plenty of fantastic, authentic Cuban restaurants, and Ropa Vieja is one of my favorites. This was WAY too heavy on the tomato flavor and there was something else missing that I couldn't figure out. Having said that, I used the leftovers on toasted buns and melted some provolone. Those were fabulous.
Update 2014: I tried this recipe again. Used half the tomato paste, double the garlic and I added one packet of Goya Sazon. Tremendous difference!! Will definitely make this again.
