Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2005
It sure helps to make this delicious alternative to mashed potatoes a day ahead. I've been asked for the recipe every time I serve it to guests.

This was extra delicious because my pan drippings included white wine and herbs! See the recipe for The Perfect Turkey.

Sweet Potato Casserole II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
Even my picky "I hate sweet potatoes" child loved this recipe and asked me to make it again. I prepared it the day before Thanksgiving, refrigerated, then baked it on Tday.

Thanksgiving Cheese Ball

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
The only drawback to this wonderful recipe is that they want to fill up on it prior to the meal, then can't eat seconds of turkey! A definite keeper.

Perfect Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
The Thanksgiving meal this year promised to be difficult due to my diagnosis of fibromyalgia. I had to plan a meal that I could starting preparing several days ahead and only work on it a short time each day. This turkey recipe allowed me to do that, and was totally delicious and juicy, even though cooked and sliced the day before Thanksgiving and reheated. I also found these other recipes that I prepared and then refrigerated to await Tday baking: Day Before Mashed Potatoes, Sweet Potato Casserole II, Thanksgiving Cheese Ball, Double Layer Pumpkin Cheesecake. In using the Shopping List feature, it allowed my sometimes foggy brain to be very organized. Thank you, AllRecipes, for all the help in overcoming my disability to continue a meaningful family tradition!

Simple But Awesome Lemon Pepper Pork Chops

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2005
We added more ground pepper to the lemon pepper and rubbed it into the chops, then grilled on the bbq. Tossed the butter, olive oil and W sauce into a pan with sliced mushrooms and onions, spooning over the grilled chops. Served with smashed garlic potatoes to help your tongue deal with the pepper: yummy!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2005
I have prepared this two ways: hot and cold. Fried and crumbled bacon, then added all dressing ingredients till sugar dissolved. Pour this hot dressing over spinach/strawberries: outa this world! Also delicious prepared cold. Adding chicken chunks and kiwi is another wonderful variation for a complete, colorful meal in a bowl!

Very tasty and easy! We used garbanzo beans and added crushed red pepper for a little zip. Used a feta cheese with mediteranean seasonings and garlic. Thanks for this great recipe!

Monterey Chicken with Potatoes

Reviewed: Jun. 1, 2005
Really great recipe! I used small new red potato halves, letting this roast to a slight crispiness. Then doubled all other ingredients to top chicken. Thanks so much for this new family favorite.

Pseudo Sourdough for the Bread Machine

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2005
This recipe was very good as printed. I also did another version that turned out well to serve with Mexican dishes: add finely chopped fresh garlic and jalepeno peppers (to taste, I put in 4 of each), and 2 T. cornmeal.

Blueberry French Toast

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2005
My family raved about this recipe, which I served for a Christmas brunch. I substituted cranberries for the blueberries. The tartness counter-balanced the sweetness nicely, was less expensive than blueberries, plus looked more Christmas-y. Thank you for this new family favorite.

I used half ground turkey, half beef, with slices of turkey bacon on the bottom. The sauce juiced up the turkey flavor, and my picky husband gobbled it up!

Absolutely Sinful Chocolate Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2004
This is now my husband's absolute favorite cookie! I doubled the chocolate squares so it was a deep, dark chocolate appearance, and reduced the baking powder by half so that the cookie was more chewy than caky. They also travel well, as I send 2 dozen to my son serving in Iraq, sealed in tupperware. After 3 weeks in the mail, he said they were still soft and chewy and his buddies request more asap!

Carne Con Chilies

Reviewed: Aug. 28, 2004
My whole family loved this recipe, including picky teenager! I left out the red hot peppers, so the "heat" was adjustable for everyone's taste by adding their own red pepper flakes. Next time I will try doubling the sauce recipe because it was good ladled over rice/black beans with cheese on the side.
