About this Cook
In my youth (haha) I was anything but domestic and had no desire to cook much! Now, I am a wife and mama to growing kiddos (17 and 11) and they all love my cooking! Better yet, I now really LOVE cooking and baking. It allows me to be meditative and creative. It's now one of my favorite things.
My favorite things to cook
I love to try all different kinds of cooking. I also really enjoy cooking new things and unusual or unique things. I like to cook from scratch for that homemade appeal...cooking from the heart!
My favorite family cooking traditions
We didn't really have any. My mom was not much of a cook and she still really doesn't like it...so why do it? My father did most of the cooking when I was growing up and he is a traditionalist and a real meat and potatoes guy. My main goal or tradition I wish to instill in my kiddos is to have fun with it!
My cooking triumphs
Meh...the fact that I am cooking and loving it...that is a real triumph!
My cooking tragedies
I remember once when I was a kid I baked my dad a from scratch cake for his birthday. It came out flat as a pancake and was hard as a hockey puck. Yeah, it was just as bad as it sounds. They all ate it anyway! That's love! :)

Ham and Beans
I do not love ham, but I made this tonight for the family with Christmas leftovers. It was really good. My hubby who loves ham and beans gave it two thumbs up. My 11 year old daughter, our pickiest eater, liked it and that is saying something! I cut sugar in 1/2, did 1/8th cayenne and had about 3X the ham.
