Hamburger Steak with Onions and Gravy

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2010
Very tasty! Made the following revisions: Used 1.5 lbs ground beef, 2 small eggs, doubled the seasoned salt, onion powder, garlic powder, and Worcestershire, and used 1 can French onion soup in addition to the beef broth to make the gravy. Recommend adding a splash of red wine to the meat & onion while it cooks, as well as to the gravy while it simmers. Adds a delicious sweet flavor to the dish. Serve with mashed potatoes for an easily prepared, filling dinner.

Indian Tandoori Chicken

Reviewed: Jan. 4, 2010
Five stars! Delicious & authentic. I used four large boneless skinless chicken breasts & marinated them for 24 hours prior to grilling them. I made the garam masala using the recipe found on this site, and I omitted the cilantro. Squeezed fresh lemon wedges over the meat after it finished grilling. We had nothing left over - even my kids loved this! Served it with couscous and asparagus for a tasty Sunday night dinner. Highly recommended.

Garden Pasta Salad

Reviewed: Aug. 13, 2007
Very tasty and very colorful! Easy to make - didn't take very long even with chopping all of the veggies. I used minced red onion (appx 1/4 cup) and only used one carrot very thinly sliced. Be sure you cut back on the amount of dressing - I used approximately 3/4 of a 12 oz bottle of Girard's Old Venice Italian, and that was plenty. My family really enjoyed this, and leftovers tasted even better the next day!

Jalapeno Chicken II

Reviewed: Sep. 12, 2004
Definitely a keeper! My family really liked it. Next time, I'll be sure to marinate the chicken the full two hours - ran short on time today and only marinated the meat in the dressing for about 30 minutes. Seemed to be lacking a bit in flavor, but I'm sure it was the lack of marinate time causing this. Very easy to make! Even my picky 5 year old cleaned her plate (hers was made without jalapeno)!

Heather's Best Ever Baked Chicken

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2004
Good, but nothing special. The other reviewers are correct - the ranch flavor is lost & seemed overpowered by the parmesan. My kids liked it, my husband didn't....I thought it was alright, but not a keeper.

Baked Spaghetti I

Reviewed: Aug. 8, 2004
This recipe has been in my family for years. My mother used to make it on a regular basis, and I took the recipe with me when I moved out, then began to make it for friends and now for my family as well. It tastes great and re-heats well; my only complaint is the amount of dishes you use in making it! Kitchen clean-up after preparing this dish is lengthy, but it is worth it. YUM!

Beef Tips and Noodles

Reviewed: Jun. 9, 2004
Be sure you use sirloin tips. I used stew meat and the texture was very tough. Also, I used 1 1/2 cups of water to make more gravy as others did. Was a bit on the salty side, and I am a salt addict. Will definitely make it again - overall, it was wonderful!

Ali's Green Sauce

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2004
Too much sour cream! We tasted the vegetable mixture prior to adding the sour cream, and the taste was incredible. After adding only one cup of sour cream, the sauce was already too thick. I would say half a cup of sour cream, at most, is needed. Also, if you prefer a spicier dip, you might want to use more than the two jalapenos listed. Our sauce was really quite mild.

Laurie's Shepherd's Pie

Reviewed: Jun. 6, 2004
Good recipe, but needs some modifications. I would ditch the pie shell and make this in a 9 x 13 dish, using more meat (1.5 lbs to 2 lbs), and using more seasonings for the meat, including garlic powder, salt, and pepper (I used white pepper, but black would work just as well). Also, be sure to salt & pepper the potatoes when adding in the margarine and milk. Overall, this dish got great reviews from myself and my family! Definitely a keeper!

Carol's Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Feb. 29, 2004
I made a few modifications, but overall this is a wonderful recipe! I omitted the poultry seasoning, swiss cheese, and grapes. I only used about 1/2 the can of water chestnuts, which was plenty. Tastes great on a crusty roll. My fiancee and I love it!

Down Home Casserole

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2003
I have made this many times, and my friends and family all absolutely love it. However - one change I make - when adding all the veggies & meat to the bacon grease, also add appx 1 cup of water. Cover & simmer for about 20-30 minutes, then drain water, add bacon, and serve. This ensures the potatoes & other veggies will fully cook. This dish is an all-time favorite!!

Meatloaf with Sour Cream Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 13, 2003
Very flavorful! Delicious sauce - we put it on mashed potatoes as a side dish & it made a wonderful gravy. I decreased the bread crumbs by about 1/3 cup - and it did take about half an hour longer to cook than shown on the recipe. We'll definitely make this again!

Dill Sauce for Hamburgers

Quick, easy, and tasty! Great on burgers! I also tried this with raw veggies and it was delicious! I used light mayo to cut down on the fat gram count, and it's still really good!

Country Chicken Casserole

Awesome dish! I decreased the fat content using lowfat shredded cheddar and fat free cream of chicken soup, along with 2% milk. The kids & my husband love it! Definitely a keeper.
