Old Fashioned Onion Rings

Reviewed: Apr. 21, 2013
These were perfect! Wonderfully crunchy. I used cornflake crumbs because we can't use bread. I also added some spices - onion powder, garlic powder, and smoked paprika. For those who had trouble with the batter sticking - I'm betting your batter was too thin. Mine was very thick and pasty and I had no problems getting it to stick.

Never, Never Fail Pie Pastry

Reviewed: Mar. 11, 2013
5 stars because I butchered the recipe and it still turned out amazing! I accidentally only put in 1 cup of flour at first. When I added the wet ingredients it was sticky mess. I added the other cup and kneaded it in until it was smooth which took a bit. Yet even with all the kneading it turned out flakey!

Old Fashion Molasses Bread

Reviewed: Nov. 7, 2012
Very nice bread. Great texture and nice taste. I used 1.5 cups of water instead of 1 and 5/8. Pretty close though. I also used cooking molasses for a stronger flavour and 2 tsp of bread yeast instead of active dry. I rose up huge!

Black Bottom Cupcakes I

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
The wife of a guy at work makes cupcakes like this and they are so good that he uses them to bribe employees. It works! :) While I was on mat leave I decided to look for a recipe and make my own. They turned out so amazing. Even my non-sweet loving partner is completely addicted and begs me to make them regularly. Notes - I upped the cocoa as suggested. I find that the cake mix makes exactly 12 good size cupcakes and the cream cheese filling will do 24 so I always double the cake mix. If you are having an issue getting the cream cheese to 'sink' try adding a bit more water to the batter to make it just a bit runnier. I had to do this because of the extra cocoa. I top these with Cream Cheese Frosting II from this site and they are incredibly decadent. Oh, and I always skip the chocolate chips. I like my cupcakes soft. :)

Sausage Jalapeno Poppers

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
This is AMAZING. I did some with sausage and some without. I preferred without. They were gone in minutes. :)

Pizza Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2012
I found these bland on their own. The muffin itself is great though so I upped the herbs and pizza ingredients (ie: peppers, onion, pepperoni, etc) and added a dollop of pizza sauce to the top before cooking. 5 stars with the changes.

Roast Sticky Chicken-Rotisserie Style

Reviewed: Feb. 5, 2012
Fantastic coating - can't wait to make it again. I didn't have any white pepper the first time so left it out and it still tasted fantastic. Oh, and I followed other reviewers' comments and only used 3 teaspoons of salt. It was plenty salty enough.

Sweet and Sour Meatballs II

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2009
I just made the sauce and dumped in some frozen swedish meatballs. Added red pepper slices and had to muck around a little with the vinegar/sugar ratio but it turned out fantastic. My wee ones loved it and have asked for it again. Awesome, quick, and easy recipe.

Best Egg Rolls

Reviewed: Feb. 3, 2005
This was the first time I've ever made eggrolls and I found this recipe extremely quick and easy. They weren't at all bland as some users have mentioned. I did find them a bit dry, however, I used a ground up leftover pot roast instead of ground pork. I will definately make these again. I do plan to play with different spices though.

Easy Cream Cheese Danish

Reviewed: Jun. 16, 2003
My mom passed this recipe on to me and it's FABULOUS! My mom changed the directions slightly - she leaves the cresent dough rolled up and slices it into about 1/4" thick slices...then she flattens the middle a bit, fills it with the filling and bakes them. This makes tiny round danishes like the ones we buy frozen from Costco. They're awesome!
