Sour Cream Biscuits

Reviewed: Jan. 25, 2014
I was vey disappointed. I added 2T butter and the dough was still very dry. Ended up adding at least twice as much water to get the dough an acceptable consistency. The taste was very bland even covered in sausage gravy. I won't be making these again.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Oct. 18, 2012
I only gave it 3 stars because I don't think the original recipe would be as good as the one I used after reading some of the reviews. I used a 2.5 lb roast with the same amount of seasonings as the recipe calls for. Instead of water I used 1 can beef broth and 1 beer. Cooked on low for about 9 hours, shredded, then refrigerated it overnight to let the flavors set. Heated it up on low for about 2 hours the day we had it and it was awesome. I make a French dip recipe from this site but my husband said this is by far better.

Pad Thai

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2012
As written I thought this recipe was only ok. I usually read the reviews before making a new dish but did ot this time and regret it. The dish was way too dry. Will make again but with at least twice the sauce as others recommended and see if we like it better.

Baingan Bharta (Eggplant Curry)

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2012
Very good. I cut down on the jalapeno and curry because I was worried that it would be too spicy but I wish the end product would have been spicier. Next time will make as written and maybe even add some spice. Hubby liked it even though there was no meat. I used fresh ginger and garlic in place of the paste and less oil, probably closer to 1 tablespoon.

Zesty Slow Cooker Chicken Barbecue

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
Very good. Next time I would cook the chicken in only the dressing half way before adding the sauce as mine started to burn. Added diced red onion for the last 30 minutes. Made chicken sandwiches the first night and used the leftovers for bbq chicken pizza, it was very yummy! I even froze some of the excess as it makes a ton and it was even better the second time around.

Slow Cooker Chicken Stroganoff

Reviewed: Jan. 11, 2010
Good base recipe. I put 4 frozen chicken breasts in the slow cooker with butter and the dressing mix and they shredded easily after 6 hours. When I mixed in the soup and cream cheese I also added garlic powder and onion powder. Next time I would add some mushrooms and onions too.

Thai Pork with Peanut Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Made this a while back and we liked it. Made it again last night and it was a big disappointment. Didn't even bother to save the leftovers. Peanut taste was too mild and overall the dish lacked flavor. Too many other good recipes on here to try this one again.

Pumpkin Pancakes

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2009
Loved it! My husband is not a pumpkin lover, but these had just enough pumpkin flavor for him to have seconds and request that I make them again. Subbed half wheat flour, applesauce for oil, and used pumpkin pie spice in place of the individual spices. Froze the leftovers and the kids and I have had them for breakfast during the week. One thing I loved about this recipe is the servings is true to what I got. Most times I have to double pancakes recipes to get enough for us.

Banana Waffles

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2009
I use this recipe as a starting point. Sub half wheat flour. Add 1/2 to 1 extra banana, smashing 1 and slicing the rest. Add cinnamon, add about 1tbsp on brown sugar, and add nuts. This has become a staple weekend breakfast for us.

Shredded Beef for Tacos

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
I used a 4lb pork roast, beer instead of wine, one can of Mexican hot tomato sauce, and one can of diced tomatoes. Cooked it on low for 8 hours and it fell apart! Shredded it and let it simmer in the liquid for another 2 hours. Added cilantro and onions right before we ate. It was delicious!

Black Beans and Rice

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2009
Made this last night for dinner and it was very, very good plus easy and quick. I subbed chicken stock for the veggie broth and needed to add more for the rice to fully cook. I added the beans and spices when I added the stock so the beans would cook down a little. I didn't add the cayenne but the flavor was still wonderful.

Greek Chicken Pasta

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2009
This was easy and quick and very delicious! I marinated the chicken in Greek dressing for a few hours. I used canned tomatoes instead of fresh since that is what I had. Those were my only changes. We both loved it and will make again.

Apple Pork Chops

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2008
Made this last night in the slow cooker according to another reviewers recommendation. I thought it was pretty good, but my husband didn't care for it at all but I think it was the flavor combination and nothing specific to the recipe.

Gramma's Apple Bread Pudding

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2008
Super easy and tastes great! I used week old bread which I let soak up the milk mixture for about 10-15 minutes as per another reviewer. I also subbed walnuts for the raisins and added nutmeg. I did not make the sauce since I took it to work as a morning snack. Everyone loved it!

Black Bean and Salsa Soup

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2008
So simple and so good!! I used a smoky salsa which had great flavor and only blended 1/2 the beans and 1/2 the salsa. Added garlic and used chicken stock, just enough to get the consistency I was looking for. My husband said that he would have liked it to be chunkier, so next time I am going to add some diced tomatoes. Very easy to modify to your own taste.

Szechwan Shrimp

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2008
I was very disappointed with the results. I made it with chicken and added vegetable and cut down on the red pepper and it was very, very bland. My husband thought we should try it again and let the chicken marinate in the sauce but after eating the leftovers for lunch today, I don't think it's worth making again. It was very simple though.

Hot Bacon Dressing

Reviewed: Aug. 18, 2008
Served this last night over a simple spinach salad and really enjoyed it. I cut the sugar back to 1/2 cup and subbed cider vinegar. I did not add salt since bacon is already salty enough for us. I used a bit of the bacon grease for flavoring and sprinkled the bacon on the salad rather than mixed in the dressing. It was very simple and will use again. May try it with balsamic vinegar next time.

Cream Filled Cupcakes

Reviewed: Jul. 29, 2008
I am only rating the filling, used boxed devil's food cake mix. The filling was delicious! I iced the cupcakes with the Chocolate Fudge Buttercream Frosting recipe from this site. They've been getting rave reviews from everyone!

Peanut Butter Noodles

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
We loved it!! I doubled the sauce (except for chili paste, kept that the same), used whole-wheat spaghetti, ground ginger (didn't have fresh) and added broccoli, carrots, and water chestnuts. Next time will added some chicken. It was so quick and easy....great weeknight meal. Thanks!

Coconut Ice Cream

Reviewed: Jul. 16, 2008
I made this two nights ago and my only complaint is that it didn't harden enough in the ice cream maker. Put the leftovers in the freezer and last night is was wonderful! Next time I may add a little more cream and milk cause the coconut was a bit strong for us, but that is more of a personal preference than anything. Thanks for the easy, great tasting recipe!
