About this Cook
I can remember being very young and sitting on a stool in my grandmother's kitchen and watching her cook. Sometimes she would let me help as would my mom. Over the years I've picked up a lot from the women in my family and I've started to branch out on my own as well.
My favorite things to cook
Pasta and family recipes, like my grandmother's chicken stew.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Just hanging out in the kitchen with the women in the family whether we are cooking or eating what we just cooked.
My cooking triumphs
I'm slowly learning to make homemade soups like I remember my grandmother making. They are not as good as hers, but it's getting there.
My cooking tragedies
I'm horrible at frying food. I usually end up with grease all over my stove and little burns all over my arms.

Sour Cream Biscuits
I was vey disappointed. I added 2T butter and the dough was still very dry. Ended up adding at least twice as much water to get the dough an acceptable consistency. The taste was very bland even covered in sausage gravy. I won't be making these again.

Slow Cooker Italian Beef for Sandwiches
I only gave it 3 stars because I don't think the original recipe would be as good as the one I used after reading some of the reviews. I used a 2.5 lb roast with the same amount of seasonings as the recipe calls for. Instead of water I used 1 can beef broth and 1 beer. Cooked on low for about 9 hours, shredded, then refrigerated it overnight to let the flavors set. Heated it up on low for about 2 hours the day we had it and it was awesome. I make a French dip recipe from this site but my husband said this is by far better.

Pad Thai
As written I thought this recipe was only ok. I usually read the reviews before making a new dish but did ot this time and regret it. The dish was way too dry. Will make again but with at least twice the sauce as others recommended and see if we like it better.
