I am a 51 year old Canadian woman living in southern Spain. I love to cook, take photos, blog, and putter in the garden.
My favorite things to cook
I live in the land of pork, so cooking pork here is second nature. Chicken I love because it is so versatile. I enjoy making jams and now chutneys thanks to the great mango chutney recipe I found at allrecipes.com.
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mother was a great cook, she made her own bread, and all of our meals were made from scratch, no processed foods at all and she was a very busy working woman. I love to cook any kind of food, as long as it is made from fresh raw ingredients.
My cooking triumphs
My hubby and I traveled around Spain in an old ambulance camping for 6 months about 9 years ago.. we had no running water or facilities of ANY kind, however we managed to cook from scratch every night on a single gas burner, we even cooked chapatis to accompany our evening meal each night.
My cooking tragedies
I made cherry jam this year, the first batch was delicious, the second batch set so hard that I had to throw it out, it was like hard candy.. I was afraid it was not going to set, so I recooked it.. FAIL..lol

I made these once before, and I just made them again. These are terrific. Way better than the store bought kind.

Mango Chutney
I made this the other day and it was fantastic.. We have it on everything from ham, cheese, cottage cheese, you name it.. it's delicious! I cut the recipe in half as did not have enough jars at the time.. I won't make that mistake again.
