Everyone in my family was a lousy cook. The only thing they made that I imitate was my grandpa's beer bread.
My cooking triumphs
Vegetarian meatloafs, mushroom gravy, oyster stew (OK, so I do eat some seafood), cherry-chocolate cheesecake, sage pesto potatoes, things with pumpkin in them. My most-loved dish: Portobello sandwiches.
My cooking tragedies
Accidentally dumping an industrial sized can of oregano directly onto a potato pizza; making chili with dried beans before I realized you have to soak those things before adding the other ingredients.
