South Beach Chopped Salad with Tuna

Reviewed: Jun. 29, 2007
The dressing was very bland. I added a chopped up pickle slice and a little bit of onion and I think that helped. I didn't use the avocado because I don't like them. It's especially disappointing that a dressing with this much oil in it would taste like nothing. With a restricted diet, it feel like a waste to use all that oil for something that tasted like nothing.

Ginger Steak

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2006
This was way too salty for me. My five year old found it too peppery. I was very impressed with how well the odd combination worked together, and how flavorful it was even without marinating.

Chrissy's Sweet 'n' Sour Tomato Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 8, 2006
We liked this a lot. I prepared it as written, except with campari tomatoes and half the dressing.

Strawberry Cake II

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2005
I made this for my daughter's birthday and didn't like it at all. It tasted very artificial. The fake strawberry jello taste was overwhelming.

Chicken Makhani (Indian Butter Chicken)

Reviewed: Jun. 12, 2005
We liked this a lot. The only change was that we used chopped tomatoes rather than puree because that's what we had on hand. It was surprisingly easy to make, and I have no complaints about it. The only reason I'm not giving it five stars is that i wouldn't say it was a knock your socks off recipe - it was just really good.

Aloo Matar

Reviewed: Nov. 20, 2003
This was so good! I really loved it, and it's really cheap and easy to boot. I also used a large pot rather than a wok and used 12 tablespoon each of grated ginger and crushed garlic rather than the ginger garlic paste. If you don't have garam masala on hand, don't buy it from the spice department of your grocery store - it's far too expensive that way. Go to a grocery store with a good natural foods section and buy it in bulk. I bought more of it in bulk for $2.00 than you can get for $7.00 in the bottle.

Cassandra's Yummy Lamb Chops

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2003
This recipe wasn't bad, but the combination of red wine and thyme didn't work for me. I'll probably make it again, but won't put in the thyme next time. Also, I used about half the amount of olive oil in the recipe over three lamb chops (in a really small dish), and it was just fine. Personally I can't afford to be marinating things in massive quantities of olive oil and throw that precious oil away the next day!

Apple Spice Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 8, 2003
My 2 year-old and I both loved this rice. I used a long grain and wild rice mixture, just because I love wild rice. Also, I used a little more chicken broth than indicated in the recipe, because if you use it in a can, you have 2 oz left over after you put in the 1 1/2 cups in the recipe. I couldn't bring myself to throw it out, but what are you gonna do with 2 ounces of leftover chicken broth?? Oh, the broth I had in the house was low-sodium, so that's what I used, and it was fine. This recipe seemed to have a perfect balance of the different flavors. I definitely wouldn't mess with the amounts of apples, raisins, and especially the garlic, or the balance might be lost. We'll be making this one often!

Fruity Gelatin Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 7, 2003
My 2 year old and I both really liked this. I did make some adjustments. I used water instead of soda, strawberry jello instead of lime, and low fat cream cheese. I also left out the nuts. It was just great. I think the soda pop would have made it too sweet.
