Whipping Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2007
Not what I expected. Seems like it was lacking in flavor

Zippy Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
This was way more bland than I anticipated. I used heavy cream instead of milk, added bacon pieces and more paprika. It turned out a bit better after that but I most likely will not be making this again.

Sweet Potato Pie II

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
This pie tasted better than my grandmother's! I used fresh sweet potatoes that I baked instead of boiled and I think it added to the flavor of the pie. This pie is on permanent rotation!!

Easy Herb Roasted Turkey

Reviewed: Nov. 28, 2005
Really simple recipe that turned out great! I took it a step further, however, by loosening the skin of the turkey and placed an herb mixture with butter under the skin (thyme, sage and rosemary mixed with room temp butter). I also placed onion, lemon, bell peppers and oranges in the cavity of the bird. The aroma was delicious and teh actual bird was even better!!

Carrot Cake XI

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2005
Really great recipe. The cake turned out really moist and delicious!! However I did add about a half teaspoon of Allspice and a half teaspoon of nutmeg and I used pecans instead of walnuts. Wanted to add raisins but forgot them when I was in the store!! will definately keep this one in rotation!

White Bean Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2004
I was not at all impressed with this recipe! I thought from reading the reviews this would be amazing but it was not. I followed the recipe to the letter but it just was not as flavorful as I thought it would be, it was more soupy with less flavor. I ended up throwing it all out as no one liked it.

To Die For Blueberry Muffins

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2004
DELICIOUS! Two things: I used frozen blueberries and I did not use the crumb topping and they were very moist and yummy. I was a little wary because the batter was thick but they turned out perfectly. The 2 1/2 year old LOVED them. They are now in my permanent cookbook! Thanks

Chicken Andouille Gumbo

Reviewed: Jan. 22, 2004
Really Good stuff!!! However, I did make a few variations. I followed the recipe except for the following: I used two types of sausage (regular smoked sausage and the real cajun kind); I cooked the split chicken breasts on high for about 30-40 minutes until it was not quite tender; I added onion and about half of the okra the recipe called for; I made the roux in a cast iron skillet (not sure if that makes a difference!) and cooked and constantly stirred it for about 10-12 minutes; I added more cayenne for some extra spice. During the last 30-40 minutes of cooking time I placed the chicken and a pound of medium cooked shrimp in the pot, with an additional cup of the chicken stock. I added very little of the file as I had never cooked with it. I made it last night so we could eat it today but we ate some of it last night!!! It was good even without the rice!!Really good recipe, will for sure make again! Thanks

Autumn Cheesecake

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2004
I was a little apprehensive about adding the apple topping to bake along with the cheesecake but it turned out really well. It added a great flavor to the cheesecake. My two concerns: The top of the cheesecake cracked. Second, it was not enough mixture so I added another 8 oz of cream cheese, an additional egg and another teaspoon of vanilla and allowed the cheesecake to remain in the oven after I turned the oven off. I will probably make this again once I figure out how to prevent cracking!

Cream Cheese Pound Cake I

Reviewed: Dec. 30, 2003
I made this cake over the Christmas holiday and it was fantastic!! The almond flavoring REALLY brings out the other flavors in the cake. The texture was perfect and the taste was perfect. You guess it, the finicky 2 year old LOVED it!! Will definately keep this one in the old permanent recipe files!!

GA Peach Pound Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 15, 2003
I had never had a peach poundcake much less made one. So when I saw the recipe I decided to try it. Great choice!! Really easy, not too sweet and very moist. I tink I may try adding peach liquer the next time I make it to bring out the peach flavor more. Since I have a toddler that hates vegetables, I think I am going to try adding squash or zucchini to the poundcake batter to make semi-healthy muffins. Will definately keep and use this recipe again. Thanks!!

Barbara's Golden Pound Cake

Reviewed: Sep. 30, 2003
We have a cake rule in our house: I will bake a cake and we will keep half and we give the other half away. Well we wanted to keep all of this cake to ourselves!! This cake was really moist and not too sweet. I did not even make the glaze because the cake was delicious without it. This is a definite keeper!!

Tea Biscuits

While this was a really easy recipe, it was waaay too salty for my and my family's tastes. I probably will not make this again. I guess I will continue to search for THE biscuit recipe....

J.P.'s Big Daddy Biscuits

These were just OK. They WERE easy to whip together but there was nothing extraordinary about them. I used butter flavored Crisco instead of plain shortening. I will probably keep this in my recipe file.

Kentucky Butter Cake

Reviewed: Aug. 26, 2003
I was not too terribly thrilled with this recipe. It was moist and fairly simple to make and the butter sauce was really good, but it seemed like something was missing...I think I will try it again and make variations as some of the other reviewers did...

Roast Chicken with Rosemary

Reviewed: Jul. 18, 2003
I thought this recipe was full of flavor. The aroma was amazing as well!! I added garlic inside the cavity of the chicken along with the rosemary and onion. added butter and a little more rosemary under the skin of the chicken for some added flavor. I rubbed the bird down with olive oil, sage, garlic powder and a bit more rosemary. It was delicious and yes the picky 1.5 year old told mommy that the "ticken" was "nummy"! Thanks for the recipe.

Buttermilk Pound Cake II

Reviewed: Jul. 11, 2003
I always test my Allrecipes recipes on my co-workers because they are so honest and this was a hit! It was really moist and had a really good flavor. Like some of the other reviewers I thought the sugar was going to make the cake too sweet but it was not nearly as sweet as I thought it would be. My husband loved it as did the picky 21 month old! Will definately make again. Thanks for the recipe!
