About this Cook
My boyfriend's father thinks I need to be more domestic, but I doubt I'll ever be a huge cook. So it is an event when I get in the kitchen and folks often ask about what I made. I prefer baking to cooking....which works well since the fella actually loves to cook (no recipes...he's a "hmm, needs a bit more basil" type....a talent I'll never have). If I make it, ANYONE can. I'm adding in a few standards and others as I make them. I am a word-lover...both reading and writing. I am also a gym-rat, which helps counter my love for food. Anything with cheese is loved, seafood is a big fav, and any form of cookie is not safe with me. I love red wine...big, deep, full reds that only a true red wine drinker would like. I have a JD and did a stint in a big law firm but no plans to go back to practice. Worked in legal recruiting too but still looking for the true career for me. As of the profile-write, I do write for a law blogging service for extra book and wine money.
My favorite things to cook
My favorite family cooking traditions
My mom always did Thanksgiving and I have an odd association b/w the holiday and Barbara Streisand since she'd turn on music while cooking. The lox rolls I've shared has become a traditional appetizer (luckily, the Christian BF is also a smoked salmon fan!!).

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies
recently, my BF took these to a work party....there were leftovers of everything EXCEPT these (and that's w/ them being a little "overdone" b/c the oven runs hot....def upgrading to airbake pans next time). these are a go-to for me, i call them "my choc chippers" but happily give credit and send a link to anyone who asks. only one person so far has said she didn't really care for the IS a bit different but i'm a big fan. i also like under-baked cookies and i think this "fits" with that trend.

Poppy Seed Bundt Cake III
was gonna post this one as well but glad i searched first....though my/mom's version does lemon pudding. love the "dump" cake ease and the fact that it is both light and flavorful. i do 40min though and that's usually plenty. my mom will sometimes make cupcakes instead (not sure of her bake time)....takes away that moment of finger-crossing that bundt pan flipping always brings!!
