Well there isn't much to tell, I was born in Detroit, MI but my family moved to Alamogordo, NM when I was but 5 years old. I have grown up in Alamogordo and I am currently still living there. I did leave Alamogordo when I was just 2 months shy of my 18th birthday because I joined the US Army. I met my wife while I was in the Army while stationed at White Sands Missle Range, NM where we were married in La Mesa, NM in an old Spanish Cathalic Church. We were married for about 11 years but were divorced while stationed at Ft Bliss, TX. I spent 13 years in the Army before getting out due to medical reasons, but while I was in the Army I spent about a year as an Army cook in a missile site for about 100 soldiers. I would have to say this is where I got most of my heavy duty cooking experience. However after getting divorced I then moved back to Alamogordo and started working for the National Park Service at White Sands National Monument,(Continued under,"My favorite things to cook:).
My favorite things to cook
NM. I worked there for another 10 years before I was injured and had to start working at a call center where I was able to sit while I worked. I then ended up retiring in 2011 where I remain waiting for my soul mate Shony to come to me and be by my side for my remaining days.
My favorite things to cook would have to be all types of Mexican Food and BBQ. I love to cook for others, but I don't get to as often as I would like to since I live alone but when I do I mostly cook for family. I mostly cook for my daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter and grandson who are twins and the light of my life.
My favorite family cooking traditions
I am always the one to cook the Turkey or Ham on holidays which I love doing. I learned so much from my mother by watching her in the kitchen. She was an ole country woman and she was one heck of a country cook. I cook a lot of things as my mother did still today, it is a way I remember. When I taste something my mother had cooked the way she would it floods my mind with the memories of sitting around the dinning table when I was just a kid. It bring a smile to my face when I cook something she would have cooked for me and I do for my grandkids and they love it as I did when I was their age. Again it is in the memories. I guess you could say I am a softie when it comes to love and family. There is nothing greater than the love in a family and that love is never shown better than when it is when all are sitting around the dinner table having a hot home cooked meal.
