Grandma's Slow Cooker Vegetarian Chili

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2005
I thought this receipe was wonderful! It's extremely easy to adapt to any taste bud. I like my chilli a little spicer than most. I used spicy chilli beans instead of garbanzo's. I also added red pepper and Jalepeno's. A great easy dish!! VEGETARIAN'S: Thankfully, most of us read labels. The Progresso Black Bean Soup uses bacon for flavoring. I used the Goya Black Bean Soup which you can usually find in the mexican section of your supermarket.

Barbecue Ham Pizza

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2006
This was WONDERFUL...my husband is a chef and usually when I try a new recipe he picks it apart with all the changes he would make. He couldn't quit saying.."This is so good, I wouldn't change anything." However, I did use store bought crust and I used canadian bacon instead of ham (it was cheaper!)

Rosemary French Bread

Reviewed: Feb. 4, 2007
This was my first attempt at homemade bread. My husband loves homemade bread and is extremely critical of it. I just took the loaf out of the bread machine about 15 minutes ago. Half of the loaf is already gone. He said he would change absolutely nothing about it!! Great recipe...I will be making it often!!

Corned Beef and Cabbage II

Reviewed: Mar. 18, 2007
WOW!!! I've never been a huge fan of Corned Beef, but since my husband loves it, I cook it for him. This was amazing. I will NEVER again boil my corned beef! I followed a couple of the other reviewer's tips and used a turkey sized oven bag and apple juice instead of water. I didn't use the apples in the cabbage...it just didn't sound good to me. Thanks so much for the wonderful recipe...I now love corned beef as much as my husband does!

Baked Spaghetti Squash Lasagna Style

Reviewed: Nov. 25, 2007
This was the first time I've ever had spaghetti squash. At first I was worried that I wouldn't like the sauce, but it was absolutly perfect in the dish. The spaghetti squash was really crunchy...I think it's something you have to get used to.

Slow Cooker Spicy Black-Eyed Peas

Reviewed: Jan. 1, 2010
This was the best pot of black eye peas EVER!!! Everyone that ate them loved them! I made a double batch since I was having people over and wanted to make sure I had enough. The only changes I made were to use two cans of chicken broth. I didn't soak the beans and I actually wound up using about 13 cups of liquid (I did two bags of peas) and they were the perfect consistency...not watery or too thick!!! GREAT recipe...I will be making this for many years to come!!!

Mock Champagne

This was awesome....not too sweet or too tart! I made it for New Year's eve since I'm trying not to drink so much anymore. It still felt like I was drinking with everyone else...but I didn't have a hangover the next morning!!! GREAT recipe...I will be making this in the future!!!

Berdean's Cube Steak

Reviewed: Jan. 31, 2010
This is super easy, extremely tasty way of cooking cube steak! I did add an onion and also added a bit of extra flour at the end to thicken the sauce a little! My husband loved it!

Lemon Carrots and Rutabaga

Reviewed: May 16, 2010
Wow! This was great! I didn't have fresh dill, so I used dried and it was still great! My hubby who hates cooked carrots even said it was wonderful! Next time, I'm going to try roasting the vegetables. Thanks for the new recipe!

Excellent recipe...I didn't have heavy cream, but I really wanted to try the recipe, so I used a jar of Ragu Light Cheesy Alfredo Sauce. I also used another reviewers recipe for cajun seasoning. We loved this recipe and will be making it LOTS!!!

Habanero Pepper Jelly

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2010
This is excellent! It's not too hot or too sweet! Instead of using the red bell pepper, I just increased the amount of carrot to to 2 cups. I also only used 1 pouch of powdered pectin. It's not super thick, but perfect on a cracker with cream cheese!!!

Ed Zieba's Famous Family Pork Chops

Awesome Pork Chops!! I don't think I'll cook them any other way again!! I did think the seasoned salt was a little too salty for us, so I used Emeril's Essence tonight and they were DELICIOUS!!!

Baked Spaghetti I

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2011
After reading all of the reviews, I was a little hesitant to try this. I was looking for a pasta dish that didn't have a lot of tomato sauce for a pre-race meal for my husband, so I decided to give this a try anyway! I only made a couple of tiny changes: I used a whole onion and bell pepper. I also used two cans of mushrooms and tomatoes since I had made extra noodles. I did add extra seasoning to taste to the meat mixture and I just mixed everything together instead of layering for ease. It was the perfect amount of sauce for the noodles! This recipe is awesome if you are looking for something that isn't very saucy. If you feel that spaghetti means you have to have a lot of red sauce, then you should try another recipe! My husband and I both loved this and will definitely make it again!!

Cheesy Polenta

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2011
This was my first time to try to make my own polenta...DELICIOUS!! I used chicken broth instead of water and used Bob's Red Mill Grits (Polenta). It only took about 4 minutes to cook...and I didn't think it needed any butter! The leftovers are in the refrigerator so that I can make crispy polenta cakes tomorrow night!!!

Pan Fried Swiss Chard

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2012
Pretty good, but you REALLY should remove the bacon before adding the chard if you want the bacon to stay crispy. Leaving it in causes it to steam and become almost soggy. It wasn't bad, I would just have preferred it to stay crispy! Next time, I'll remove the bacon and most of the bacon grease before sauteing the garlic in the butter and add the bacon back after the chard is wilted!
