Old Man's Turkey Noodle Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
...and then I wept. Boy, I do NOT like messing with a turkey carcass (which I used instead of drumsticks) but to have just one sip of this simple soup makes it all worth it. Such a classic wonderful taste. Can't wait to be done with Thanksgiving so I can make it this weekend.

Creamy Avocado Cucumber Soup

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
I live next door to an avocado rancher. I often have avocados coming out my ears. (It's an ugly job, but someone has to do it.) So I was very happy to find this delicious recipe. I kicked it up a notch by adding fresh cilantro and jalapeños in the blender. Refreshing.

Watermelon Pickles

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
First and last time growing watermelons in So Cal. Only got ONE watermelon from a jungle of vines (squirrels got two other ones! #($@) So I was determined to make the very best of that darn melon. This recipe was clear and easy. However, peeling a watermelon resulted in me inventing new swear words. I'm lucky I still have all my fingers. Not a fun process. BUT...the taste of this recipe is delightful. I actually would be willing to use it again on a Farmer's Market organic melon.

Sweet Chunk Zucchini Pickles

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2013
I'm fairly new to canning, and definitely to pickling lime. But, shoot howdy, these were easy, although you do need to plan ahead as two steps include letting this sit for 24 hours. I gave them a water bath, as I wanted to store on the shelf. They are VERY delicious and crisp. Pleasantly surprised, and definitely will make these again.

Pickled Peaches

Reviewed: Aug. 6, 2013
I just made my second batch. These are GOOD. My first batch I also added a jalapeño in one jar. I can't say it really made the peaches zing, but the pickled jalapeño was great. So this time, I made a little extra syrup and picked some jalapeños straight from the vine to the jar. Woohoo!
