Zesty Tilapia with Mushrooms

Reviewed: Jun. 30, 2014
This was so tasty! I used regular white mushrooms as it's what I had on hand. I sauteed them with fresh garlic and butter, removed from the pan. Then added a little more butter and the tilapia filets. Browned on one side, then squeezed in the juice of one lime. Flipped and continued to cook, seasoned with onion powder and salt and freshly ground black pepper. Added mushrooms back to the pan. YUM!

Shrimp and Crab Bisque

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2013
Used both seafoods and just 2 tbsp flour. Will only use shrimp next time. Added old bay and paprika, as well as a squeeze of lemon juice.

Lemon Meltaways

Reviewed: Dec. 8, 2013
I made the cookies as written and they were pretty plain tasting on their own which was fine because of the addition of icing. Left them to cool completely on the cookie sheets and then crumbling was not a problem at all. I don't care for buttercream icing, however, so I made a lemon icing using tbsp lemon juice, 3/4 cup icing sugar and 1-2tbsp milk until I got a runny texture. It was quite tangy (which I wanted) and hardened up perfectly! We'll make more for sure.

Christmas Fudge

Reviewed: Dec. 7, 2013
Probably one of the first recipes I've followed to a T on allrecipes...and one of the first I've ever started without reading the reviews first! I am not a sweets person so these are DEFINITELY too sweet for me, wish I'd followed the reviews and decreased the sugar. Ultimately the kids and hubs thought it was pretty good, though also a bit too sweet. Pretty, we also crushed candy canes for the top. Merry christmas!

Slow Cooker Thai Pork with Rice

Reviewed: Jun. 28, 2010
My whole family liked this. I didn't have rice wine vinegar so I added a splash of white distilled. Also added 1/4 cup of brown sugar but I still didn't think it was sweet enough, at least, I thought it was missing a sweet element. No one else seemed to! I could have used a bit more kick, personally, but I'm the only heat-lover in this house. Served over Thai rice noodles.

Used chicken legs/back attached, left out chili powder. It was delicious! Will make again and again.

Easy Lemon Chicken and Rice

Reviewed: Nov. 19, 2009
I served this over noodles vs the rice and needed to add a bit more cornstartch to thicken the sauce, prob because of the lack of race. Regardless this was bland. Did not care for it at all. Won't make again.

Salmon with Tomatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 4, 2009
Really quite good -- don't omit the Parmesan! It really makes the dish. Only changes -- used 1/2 tsp cayenne pepper in place of hot sauce because I didn't have any on hand. No parsley because we didn't have any, and I upped the quantity of dill, lemon juice and paprika (doubled). I used a can of diced tomatoes and juice and served over plain brown rice. My sister-in-law ate it without the butter or parm (due to preference) and said it was delicious too. Will be making again and again! Thanks!

Wild Rice 'n Ham Soup

Reviewed: Dec. 12, 2008
Was quite good. Doubled for my family of 8. Added more ham than called for, used 2% milk instead of half-and-half -- watching the waistline! Used white rice as I had no wild on hand. Probably better with half-and-half.

Straccetti

Reviewed: Aug. 19, 2006
I disagree with others that this recipe is bland -- I thought the flavor was delicious. I used sirloin instead of flank steak as it's what I had in the freezer. I didn't stray from the recipe except that I used a bit more worchestershire sauce (eyeballed it) and attempted to thicken the sauce with cornstarch. It wouldn't thicken!! I think this recipe would be far more enjoyable if the sauce weren't so...runny and soupy. I probably won't make it again.

Sassy Steak Marinade and Sauce

Reviewed: Apr. 20, 2003
I don't know if this is new to the site or not...but it's EXCELLENT! Everyone, try this. You don't have to marinate too long (I added extra garlic, because I love it soo much) and you still come out with tender, tasty steak. I broiled in the oven, 6 mins on each side. Mmmm!!!
