Beefy Spanish Rice

Reviewed: Dec. 21, 2010
Good basic recipe. I omit all spices and cook the meat with 1 pkg of taco seasoning. The kids love it. I also add 1 cup of homemade spaghetti sauce to meat in place of stewed tomatoes. Thanks for the recipe.

Blueberry Scones

Reviewed: Jul. 7, 2008
I liked this as a base recipe. 1/2 c. of brown sugar as they weren't sweet enough for my husband's taste. I also substituted 1/2 c. vanilla yogurt and 1/2 c. milk for the liquid because I had no half and half. After dropping by tablespoonful on a cookie sheet I baked them at 350 convection setting for 15 minutes and they were perfect. Thanks for sharing.

Whole Wheat Beer Bread

Reviewed: Apr. 1, 2008
I have made this recipe several times and it's wonderful!!! My family especially likes it with spaghetti and meatballs. I add 1/4 cup of melted butter to the top before it goes into the oven and it makes the most amazing crust. I tried it once with a Guiness dark ale and didn't like it nearly as well as Labatt's Blue. Thanks for sharing.

No Drip Ice Pops

Reviewed: Oct. 10, 2007
These are exactly how they are described. My kids dropped them on the floor and they bounced. No drips at all!! Not very flavorful though. I add chopped strawberries and pineapple to the next batch and they were much better.

Canadian Barn BBQ Sauce

Reviewed: Feb. 7, 2007
I made this tonight for the family and everyone loved it. I marinated the ribs last night and left them in the fridge, then this afternoon at 1pm I put them in the oven at 250 covered. I took the foil off at 4pm and let them cook uncovered for an additional hour. I basted them every 15 min that last hour. It was a little too sweet for my taste. Next time I will reduce the brown sugar by half. The meat absolutely fell off the bone. Delicious!!! Thanks for the post.

Easy Chocolate Banana Cake

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2007
My family did not like this cake at all. I added 3 bananas instead of one to make the banana flavor stronger and I still couldn't taste it. The cocoa was way to overpowering. I would reduce it by at least half. The cook time was off too. I cooked it for the time listed and it was barely set. Sorry, this one's not a keeper for me.

Pork Chops and Scalloped Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 3, 2007
I wanted to try something new instead of the same old pork chop recipe so I tried this and my husband loved it!!! No leftovers for once. I added more potatoes and cooked them for 30 minutes before adding the chops because we like them soft. The gravy was great. I used salt reduced chicken broth and didn't add any salt to the gravy and it was wonderful. Thanks for sharing.

Banana Muffins II

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
This is a great recipe for the kids. I added a cup of milk chocolate chips and crushed 1/2 cup of bran buds in the batter. I used my mini muffin tin and cooked them for 10 minutes in my convection oven at 325. Great recipe.

Tortilla Rollups IV

Reviewed: Dec. 16, 2006
My family like this recipe well enough. I didn't have ranch dressing mix so I used dill instead. It tasted really good. I found it difficult to roll them if I went to close to the edge. They are much easier to work with after refrigeration. I will make these again.

Baked Potato Soup I

Reviewed: Dec. 26, 2005
I made this for our christmas eve celebration and it was a big hit!! Even the pickiest eaters took seconds. After reading some reviews I made some similar changes. I fried up the bacon and then used the drippings only as we don't eat meat on christmas eve. I substituted 7 cups of milk for 3 cups of chicken broth, 3 cups of half and half and 1 cup of heavy cream. It was great!!! I will definitely be making this again.

Chocolate Cavity Maker Cake

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2005
This is the best chocolate cake recipe ever!!! It didn't even last 2 days. I substituted hot water for the liquer as some of the reviews suggested and it came out great. The second time I made it I used a cake mix with pudding already in the mix and found I didn't need to add the extra pudding package. I baked it on convection 325 F for 1 hour and 5 minutes and it came out perfect. This is definitely a keeper for me. Thanks for sharing.

Best Brownies

Reviewed: Apr. 15, 2005
These brownies were quick and easy to make but I found putting them in an 8" pan made them too flat so next time I will use a 7" pan. I cooked them at 325 F. on my convection setting for 23 min and they came out great. I will definitely be using this recipe again.

Pink Stuff

Reviewed: Apr. 5, 2005
I tried this dessert out for both my family and the in-laws. Sorry to say it wasn't a big hit. They said it was too sweet and not to make it again. It's nice to try new things though.

English Butter Tarts

Reviewed: Mar. 16, 2005
These are the best butter tarts I have ever eaten!!! I whipped the mixture until it had the consistency of pudding and left out the raisins (hubby doesn't like them) and they came out better than bakery fresh. Thanks so much for sharing.

Chicken and Red Wine Sauce

Reviewed: Jan. 26, 2005
I found the sauce to be very sweet, so I will definitely be reducing the sugar by half next time. I also added some mrs. dash to the chicken for more seasoning. I also used a little bit of flour in the sauce to make it a bit thicker and then served it all on a bed of sticky rice. It was a quick and easy recipe which is great when you don't have a lot of time. I will make this again.

World's Greatest Chewy Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 21, 2005
This recipe is really good but I made some changes. I added about 3/4 cup of milk chocolate chips. I also baked them at 325 for 9 minutes using my convection oven and removed them from the pan immediately. I made them small for my 2 year old and got 2 1/2 dozen. If you like flat crispy on the outside and chewy on the inside cookies this is the recipe for you.

Award Winning Soft Chocolate Chip Cookies

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2005
These were ok. Maybe I did something wrong but the batter was kind of hard to work with. Next time I'll make sure the butter is really soft before I add the sugar. I used chocolate pudding because my husband is a chocolate freak and he really liked them. I halved the recipe and I got 4 1/2 dozen medium sized cookies. I will try this recipe again.

I found this very runny even after cooking for longer than was required. I don't think I'll make it again.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Jan. 5, 2005
I made this using the convection setting on my oven so that may be the problem but I found the meat to be very dry. I even used my pampered chef stone with a lid and it didn't help. Next time I would definitely add more liquid to the pan and not cook as long.
