Green Beans with Bread Crumbs

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2009
Pretty good. I put it together and let it sit in the fridge for a few hours and put it in the ovenfor 15 before dinner and I think that helped everything meld together well.

Grandma's Corn Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 14, 2009
Great recipe.. and it can be so easily modified.. I did use chicken stock instead of water and after it was ready I decided to add another can of regular corn (drained) just for personal prefence. I LOOOVE corn.

Quick and Easy Brownies

Reviewed: Nov. 6, 2009
As written, these are pretty tasty but I'm going to take the other reviewers' suggestion next time and cut the flour to 1 cup. Hopefully that will make them less cakey.

Amazing Pork Tenderloin in the Slow Cooker

Reviewed: Oct. 21, 2009
I'm not really crazy about red wine but I thought I'd try it and see what happens. I made it exactly as per the directions. I ended up taking the pork out and b/c it was so tender and I didn't want to waste it, I doused it in bbq sauce and let it sit in the fridge until dinner and we warmed it back up and had bbq pork sandwiches. They would have been really good if not for the slight red wine flavor that still lingered. Definitely won't try this again. You have to really love the flavor of red wine to like this I guess.

Spinach Tomato Tortellini

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2009
Very easy and very good. I had to make a couple of substitutions based on what I had--I was out of canned regular tomatoes so I used a can of rotel which did not state mild, medium or hot on it.. I guess I assumed it would be mild. It was actually pretty spicy. I still liked it as did my 12 year old stepdaughter but we both agreed next time to make sure and use regular diced tomatoes. Other than that, it's better than some restaurat variations.

Country Apple Dumplings

Excellent. I 1/2ed the recipe and used Diet mountain dew and 1/4c brown sugar, 1/4 splenda, and 1/4 c white sugar. Also added the tsp vanilla like some other users suggested.

Fruit Pizza I

Reviewed: Sep. 28, 2009
I'm going to give it 5 stars b/c if I had followed the recipe it probably would have been great, but I was in a hurry. I used snickerdoodle premade cookie dough b/c the store was out of regular sugar cookies. I also didn't rool it out, they were cut up squares and I just used them and made individual pizzas. Instead of sugar I used splenda but ended up added 2 tablespoons of regular sugar to make it a little sweeter. And for the fruit I was running through the grocery store and the frozen section was closer so I grabbed a bag of frozen strawberries, blueberries and raspberries and let them thaw while I made the rest. It was pretty good.. the kids liked it. I'm more discriminating though so next time I'll follow the recipe!

Corn Dog Muffins

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
My stepdaughter loved these. I just read off the ingredients and let her do all the work. I 1/2'ed everything b/c I didn't want a ton of leftovers in case they weren't good. It made 6 normal sized muffins and she asked to take the one leftover muffin to school for lunch. I'd like to make these for a football party I'm having this weekend but I want to find a muffin pan that is a bit smaller but not the mini muffins.. I think it would be better for appetizer sized portions.

10 Pound Cheesecake

Reviewed: Sep. 1, 2009
It's like the jello no bake cheesecake in a box but I think this is better. I halfed it by looking at the comments b/c I just wanted one normal sized cake and I used a store bought graham crust. It was exactly the right portion size for the crust and so easy to make. I actually read off the ingredients and let my 12 year old do all the work.

Almost No Fat Banana Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2009
I actually used 1/4 cup splenda brown sugar (which equates to 1/2 cup), a humped 1/4 cup of white sugar, eyeballed about a 1/4 tspn nutmeg and 1/2 tsp of salt, used 1 egg instead of whites, 2 bananas, and self rising flour so I omitted baking soda and powder.Very good.. not rubbery at all.

Italian Chicken Bow Tie Pasta

Reviewed: Aug. 25, 2009
So simple and very good. I added some sauteed mushrooms, peas and put out some parmesan cheese for anyone who wanted to top it wiht that. For the chicken, I used cutlets and marinated them in the italian dressing for a couple of hours and baked them in the oven while I was cooking the pasta. Everyone liked it a lot and my daughter asked me to pack the leftovers for her lunch the next day just like another reviewer said.

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough + Cupcake = The BEST Cupcake. Ever.

Reviewed: Aug. 10, 2009
I tried 3 rounds of baking to try and end up with cookie dough unbaked but regardless, if I cooked the cupcake enough, the cookie was melted. I used frozen dough balls. I suppose if I could get this to turn out right, I might up the stars but it's not worth the trouble to me to keep trying.
