Apple Crumble Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 17, 2011
I added raisins and a little lemon juice to the apples and a pinch of nutmeg to the sugar mixture that I mixed the apples in like others have suggested. I messed up the crumb topping. I guess the butter got softer than intended so I ended up with a paste but I used it anyway. It still tasted great.

Cherry Cake

I liked this a lot. It's like a cherry muffin if you don't use the sauce but I like to put the sauce on and let it sit for about 10 mins to soak in and then eat it. Soo good.

very easy and pretty darned good. I had blackberries on hand though so I used them instead of raspberries and they turned out great.

Best in Show Blackberry Cobbler

I found the filling ended up being a little waxy once it cooled off which I was not crazy about. Everyone else seemed to like it at the time but when I mentioned what I thought, the person I was talking to agreed.

Buttercream Icing

Reviewed: Jun. 19, 2011
I started off using only butter but didn't think that the amount would be enough for my cake (I was wrong) so I added to it and didn't have any more room temp butter so decided to use shortening and I liked the texture and the flavor was still very good.

Pineapple Chicken Tenders

Excellent flavor on the marinade. I added some garlic powder to it and marinaded for about 4 hours or so. The flavor was very pronounced in the chicken and everyone loved it. I used chicken breasts and grilled them instead of tenderloins.

Rubbed and Grilled Pork Loin

great rub. I didn't grill it, I was baking it and I only had a 1 1/2 lb loin but it came out terrific.

Janet's Rich Banana Bread

Reviewed: May 8, 2011
Didn't have enough sour cream and saw that someone had used strawberry yogurt so I ended up using the blueberry yogurt that I had. I also didn't use butter.. used applesauce instead and it was great. Oh.. also cheated by using self-rising flour and omitting salt and baking soda. Added 1/2 tsp cinnamon.

Hubby and kids really liked this. Served with mexican sweet cornbread and southwestern egg rolls along with cilantro cream dipping sauce all from this site for cinco de mayo dinner. Everything was a hit.

Amy's Cilantro Cream Sauce

Reviewed: May 6, 2011
really good with the southwestern egg rolls from this site. Very strong cilantrol flavor IMO. You could cut back on it a little and it would be fine. I added some sour cream to try and dull the flavor a bit. It wasn't nearly as noticeable when you actually ate it with the egg roll though.

Southwestern Egg Rolls

Great basic recipe and you can definitely modify it to suit your tastes. I didn't follow it exactly but that's the beauty of it. Versatile. And I did bake them @ 450 like a lot of others to make them healthier.. and I had a couple of really lean leftover pork chops (you know the ones that are so lean they are really not good as leftovers b/c they are tough).. I just chopped those up really small and used them instead of chicken.. no one knew the difference.

I frosted this with chocolate frosting.. I think next time I'll just leave off the frosting. I think the cake is good by itself.

Everyone loved this. My husband used it with tortiillas even though I made it to go with pork loin. He said he's going to finish it off as a midnight snack.

Bacon Ranch Pasta Salad

this was very good. I left out the cheese just because it didn't seem appetizing to me and I added some chopped onion I already had hanging around as well as a 1/2 can of peas.

Strawberry Cheesecake

Reviewed: Mar. 15, 2011
so easy and mine did not crack but I used a water bath. I also ran out of lemon juice and subbed 1/2 lime juice so it kind of had a keylime quality to it. Added a tblspn of vanilla too and only used 2 blocks of cream cheese per suggestions.
