A Jerky Chicken

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2003
A recipe well-deserving of its 5-star status.

Cream of Fresh Asparagus Soup I

Reviewed: Jun. 5, 2003
Yum - this soup is good! Following suggestions of previous reviewers I only used 2 cups of milk - which led to a thick and creamy soup. I also used two chicken stock cubes. This plus the soy sauce made the soup a little too salty so I will omit the salt at the beginning in future. I had one bowl leftover and it tasted good cold, too.

Flavorful Beef Stir-Fry

Reviewed: Jun. 3, 2003
I really liked how the vegetables turned out - much better than the prepackaged, plus you can add other ingredients as liked - eg: baby corn or mushrooms. I agree that it was a little too salty so low sodium soy sauce would be a good choice.

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

Reviewed: May 28, 2003
I liked this recipe because the most work was in preparing the food and then the cooking was easy. The vegetable were so much better than the pre-packed oriental ones. I used the mixture it was marinaded in to also cook with and make the recipe more moist. This may have contributed to it being a little too salty and my husband to say it was too mushy.

Chicken Shwarma

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
We like Indian food but I found the garam marsala made us all sneeze when the chicken was cooking. Also rather dry. I won't use the recipe again.

Chocolate Jumbo

Reviewed: May 9, 2003
A soft cookie and although I prefer a firmer texture the flavor is top rate. I did not bother with the frosting and walnut.

Karen's Spring Mix Salad

Loved the ingredients but prefer my own olive oil viaigrette.

Bacon and Tomato Cups

Reviewed: May 7, 2003
Who thought of this? I'm glad they did. Preparing the filling is a little time consuming and I'm sure the calories are really high, but dispite this it is a snack well-worth the effort. Highly praised by the family.

Mushroom and Leek Soup

Reviewed: May 5, 2003
What I had on hand were onions instead of the leeks, sweet sherry instead of the dry and beef base instead of condensed stock. Still this consomme turned out great - worthy of serving at a dinner party - and easy too.

Spring Lime Tea Cookies

Reviewed: May 5, 2003
Using the ingredients I had on hand, I used oranges as suggested by an earlier reviewer. It is difficult to wait for the glaze before tucking into the cookies which have a cake-like texture. Different from the cookies I usually make, I look forward to using limes next time.

Cucumber Sandwich

Reviewed: May 5, 2003
I made this into a sub and changed the ingredients slightly to include banana peppers. Next time I may omit the cream cheese. My husband told me to make this often!

French Spring Soup

Reviewed: May 1, 2003
I liked the variety of vegetables in this soup which made it sound healthy (if you don't look at the butter and heavy cream!) When I tasted it after it had cooked it definately needed some more flavoring, so I added chicken stock granules. Next time I make it I will use some stock cubes at the beginning and cut the salt.

Mark's English Sausage Rolls

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2003
Not quite the same taste as British sausage rolls - mainly because the sausage meat is different, but still a tasty dish. I added a small chopped onion and 1 Tablespoon of chopped parsley. My family loved them and I froze some for packed lunches. If cut much smaller these make a tasty finger food.

Saucy Stuffed Peppers

Reviewed: Apr. 30, 2003
The beauty of this recipe is that it is easy! I may add more spices/flavoring to the meat and rice stuffing next time. All the tomato juice is left over at the end - this could be used to make a soup.

Applesauce French Toast

Reviewed: Apr. 28, 2003
The recipe was very moist and I had to be careful transferring the bread from the dish it was soaking in to the pan. I may add extra eggs or decrease the amount of milk next time. The applesauce added a nice flavor. Very sweet. My family enjoyed it but thought they preferred their "normal" french toast.

Charbroiled Salmon

Reviewed: Apr. 26, 2003
I wanted a quick recipe for a dinner party and this sounded simple enough. I used wine vinegar instead of the wine. It was a smash hit - complimented by everyone, even my son who isn't too fond of fish.
