Grilled Sausage with Potatoes and Green Beans

Reviewed: Sep. 15, 2006
This is so good! I make this recipe about twice a month. I use canned green beans (2 cans) and sauté the green beans in a little olive oil with fresh minced garlic (4 or 5 cloves – we love garlic). I then add the green beans with oil and garlic on top of the sliced onions (I use 2 onions), potatoes and smoked sausage and roast in a roasting pan at 425 degrees for 25 to 30 minutes, stirring a couple of times. I also omit the water and do not cover the pan. I tried this method and it seemed to steam the dish and we like ours browner and caramelized. Thanks Tonya for a very awesome dish.

Black Pepper Beef and Cabbage Stir Fry

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2005
Really good as is but I made a few changes for our taste. I used top sirloin cut into strips. I added 1/4 t. red pepper flakes, and for the sauce, I mixed 3 T. soy sauce, 1 T. rice vinegar, and 2 dashes hot chili oil together and poured it over all. We like it a little spicy. I only needed to use 1 t. cornstarch mixed with 1 T. water. Thanks for a great recipe Pearlie!!

Polish Meat and Potatoes

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2004
Loved this! I did not add the green pepper - we are not big fans! My husband loves to eat his kielbasa with bbq sauce so I served it on the side as a dipping sauce. Goes great with cheddar biscuits! Thanks Christopher - awesome comfort food! And it reheats well the next day (or 2)!

Garlic Red Potatoes

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2004
This is a favorite potato dish in our home. I omit the lemon - we don't care for it. And of course, I add more garlic. We add brussel sprouts, quartered, as well, if I have them on hand. It takes about 45 minutes to roast and it even tastes great reheated the next day. Super dish Laura!!

Crab-Stuffed Filet Mignon with Whiskey Peppercorn Sauce

Reviewed: Dec. 22, 2003
The whiskey peppercorn sauce is awesome! I used what I had on hand - a nice thick sirloin in place of the filets and skipped the crab stuffing and mushroom mixture and it was fantastic! I used a little corn starch to speed up the thickening of the sauce at the end. The way I prepared it only took about 30 minutes! I will make this a regular and will add the mushroom mixture the next time. Thanks Sue Z. for a wonderful, divine recipe!!

Pepperoncini Beef

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
I just recently bought a convection oven. I prepared a roast that didn't quite turn out & it was underdone so I thought I would try to save it with this recipe. It worked! I added the entire jar of whole pepperoncini's with the liquid and it was to die for! My hubby raved on and on about it! He loved that the peppers were whole and we made two meals out of this roast (sandwiches & burritos). Thanks Joyce - you're a jewel!

Microwave Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
Yummy!! We love corn on the cob and this is the easiest and fastest way to prepare it! When we aren't able to grill the corn because of cold weather this is the recipe we love! For us, 2-3 ears of corn is done in exactly 8 minutes. I made 10 ears of corn for Thanksgiving and cooked for 14 minutes. Perfect! Thanks Cheri for making something so good, so simple!

Garlic Green Beans

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
The best! I'm a southern girl and have always used bacon or pork salt to season my green beans... no more!! I love garlic and this is one of our new favorite side dishes! I served this for Thanksgiving and everyone raved!! Thanks Ericka for the awesome recipe!

Day Before Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2003
I served this for Thanksgiving and I loved the ease of this dish (except I used Yukon Gold potatoes and had to peel a ton of them!). I tasted it the day before I baked it and I was a little worried because it tasted really sour! However, after baking, the next day, it tasted really great! Thanks Erin for making my life easier!

Montreal Peppered Steak

I guess I am the odd "woman" out on this one! I didn't care for it at all and I love all the ingredients. I couldn't even eat mine. However, I am giving it 3 stars because my husband was able to eat his but he asked that I not make this again. Thanks anyway McCormick.

Homemade Crispy Seasoned French Fries

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2003
These are great! It is a little messy but well worth it! I seem to always make a mess anyway... I used a frying pan and drained the fries on a rack over a sheet pan so they wouldn't get soggy. My hubby never eats fries but ate most of these while I was still fixing dinner. Thanks Cassie - you are a genius!

Garlic Croutons

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2003
The best! I used a little more butter than called for and used the microwave to melt it. I then put the bread crumbs in a tupperware bowl with the butter and fresh garlic and gave it a shake - so easy! In fact, my hubby requests more salads now that I make these croutons. Sourdough is our favorite. Thanks Cathy for great croutons! You're a genius!

Red, White and Blue Slaw Salad

Loved it! My hubby is very particular about his cole slaw, and I have never liked it until this recipe!! I used Marzetti's Slaw Dressing which is tangy and I am a huge blue cheese fan so I gave this a try. I am very glad I did! Thanks Marcy for an awesome slaw salad!!

Cajun Style Burgers

Reviewed: Sep. 23, 2003
While these burgers were juicy, my hubby and I didn't think they were all that tasty. The burgers didn't taste bad, we were just expecting more. The burgers totally fell apart and we weren't able to eat them as burgers. The sauce was really nice and we enjoyed that. Thanks for the recipe Gail but I don't think I will make the burgers again.

Mexican Layered Dip

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2003
I am giving this 4 stars because I made a couple of changes that I probably should not have. We started eating it immediately after I made it and it was way too rich (change #1)! So we decided to stick in the refrigerator and try it again the next night. By this time it was too watery because I had used a can of diced tomatoes w/green chiles (change #2) that I thought I had thoroughly drained but it was a soupy mess! May try again after chilling the 2 hours as stated in the recipe. Thanks Rusty.

Basic Baked Spaghetti

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2003
Quick and Easy! I used your recipe as a base and made the following changes: ground pork instead of beef, added onions and garlic sauteed in olive oil, and black olives and also definitly more sauce (I added 2 jars). For cheese, I used fresh romano, mozzarello, and parmesan. So good! Be sure to cover the dish and take the foil off during the last 10-15 minutes to brown. My hubby told me it was the best spaghetti he has ever had! Thanks so much Wendy!

Restaurant-Style Buffalo Chicken Wings

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2003
Awesome! I made 3 lbs. of wings, and my hubby ate all but a couple of wings. I have also found that just deep frying the wings naked - without flour, then draining on a rack and placing in a serving bowl with Texas Pete Wing Sauce is just as good (hotter which is what we love!) and much quicker. So good with chunky blue cheese dressing and celery. Thanks Kelly for a great tasting recipe!

Buffalo Chicken Sandwiches

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
I used this recipe as a base. I fried my chicken breast, then coated in Frank's Hot Sauce to which I added 2-3 tbsp of melted butter. No broiling here, since I never have any luck with broiling. Of course, mine was messier and I just had to add blue cheese and blue cheese dressing on top! Thanks Lisa for a great chicken sandwich! My hubby has requested this for lunch the last two weekends in a row!

Nacho Cheese Sauce

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
Very good sauce but a little too thick. I used 2 cups of milk and instead of american cheese, I used about 2 1/2 cups of pepper jack cheese. This added the spice my husband and I love! Thanks MaryAnn!

Cheesy BBQ Chicken Breast Sandwich

Reviewed: Sep. 9, 2003
Yummy! I made a couple of changes but this is a very quick and easy recipe. I omitted the green peppers (we don't care for them) and used sliced red onion (not cooked). I topped with bacon slices and mozzarella! So good!
