Bacon-Wrapped Asparagus

Reviewed: May 2, 2012
I love bacon and I love asparagus, but I didn't love this. It was just okay. Won't make again.

Not to my liking. Too sweet and too much fat.

Oatmeal Waffles

Made these exactly as written. They were just "okay." For us, there was way too much cinnamon and I would have to tweak the recipe quite a bit to give it five stars.

Very good, very easy. Add a splash of liquid smoke if you like smoky flavor. Thanks, AEK!

Cheesecake Lemon Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2011
I kept thinking there was no way this was going to turn out. Looked like a mess when it went into the oven. But... 30 minutes later I was eating both my words and some delicious lemon bars. Outstanding recipe.

Golden Wedding Punch

Reviewed: Sep. 11, 2011
I like fizzy punch so I used 2 liters of ginger ale instead of the sugar and water. The punch was a huge hit. One 13-year-old boy said "This is actually kinda good!" so I told him he should have this punch at his wedding. Not overly sweet!

Thai Cucumber Salad

Oh boy, this is good! I left my peanuts whole because I was in a hurry, otherwise didn't change a thing. Another reason to love cucumber season.

Quiche Lorraine II

Simple and delicious. I confess that I ate half of it myself. Get the onions and bacon going while you make the pastry and it doesn't take long at all to make.

I've never seen a recipe so full of possibility. What a great cooking method! I can't wait to start experimenting with different seasonings. YUM!

Korean BBQ Chicken Marinade

Reviewed: Jun. 13, 2011
You can't go wrong with this. I don't even cook the marinade, just stir it up. I don't measure the ingredients, either, just estimate. It's a forgiving recipe. Try fresh lime juice in place of the lemon--YUM.

Scrumptious Strawberry Shortcake

Not cake-like enough for me, and had a sharp bite-y aftertaste. Salt might have helped. I will stick with my tried-and-true Betty Crocker recipe.

Spaghetti Sauce with Ground Beef

Reviewed: May 15, 2011
Easy and delicious. Personally, I use only 1/2 tsp. oregano, crushed tomatoes instead of diced, leave out the green pepper and add about 1 tsp. sugar as suggested by other reviewers. Excellent basic recipe.

You can use those little precooked brown-n-serve sausages in this, just slice into disks. This was good.

My mom called these cabbage burgers, in college we called them runzas, and now I see they are called bierrocks! They are delicious, whatever you wish to call them. I did not know these were German, thanks!

Good Old Fashioned Pancakes

Reviewed: Dec. 3, 2010
I recommend that users decrease the salt to 1/4 tsp, decrease the baking powder to one tablespoon, and use up to four tablespoons of sugar (to your own personal taste). As written, this recipe calls for a tablespoon of baking powder plus 1 teaspoon PLUS another half teaspoon! The baking powder can be decreased and you will still get nice fluffy pancakes.

We can get cranberry gelatin here, so I used that. Do make the cream cheese, s. cream, sugar, vanilla topping. Very, very good.

Best Beef Dip Ever

Reviewed: Sep. 18, 2010
I was leery of this recipe when I smelled it cooking... something odd about the aroma. And the roast never got tender enough to shred, which is what I wanted. After 14 frustrating hours of cooking, I put the slow cooker container into the refrigerator and ordered pizza. Next day I took the roast out of the broth and slice a thin piece and tasted it... HEAVENLY! I had to nibble thin pieces of meat while I prepared the French dip sandwiches. Give this recipe a try, everyone!

Braunschweiger Spread

Reviewed: Sep. 5, 2010
I used this to make little sandwiches for a poker game, so I left out the olives and put in a few squirts of mustard. So easy to spread! I recommend a full cup of chopped onion. The menfolk gobbled this up.
