About this Cook
I grew up in a home where my mother did ALL the cooking. My experiences in the kitchen were limited to eating her food and occasionally sweeping the floor! So when I got married and starting cooking my own dinners, I was literally thrust into a whole new world. I needed step-by-step instructions for even the simplest things - like boiling eggs, or cooking pasta. But once I started with the cooking, I got hooked! I absolutely love it! My mother has her tried-and-true recipes she basically always stuck with. Not me! I love trying new recipes, and I have about 25 different spices lining my spice rack... and counting...
My favorite things to cook
As a wife and mother, I am responsible for what my family eats. I like to make delicious food, but I feel much better about my meals when they are healthy and nutritious, too. I feel great making stir fry loaded with veggies, fruity smoothies, scrumptious salads, soups bursting with veggies and nutrition... And then, of course, I have my oily hot-poppers, my O'Henry bars, my penne al'a vodka... mmm... :)
My favorite family cooking traditions
Being a part of a Jewish family definitely has its culinary perks: chicken soup, challah, gefilte fish, sabbath cholent, kugels, kishka, potato latkas...
My cooking triumphs
As a mother of an active one year old boy who constantly needs to be occupied, any meal that I can manage to get on the dinner table is a triumph!
My cooking tragedies
Hope I can keep this section empty...

This was delicious! I wouldn't say it was bland, but it could have used a bit for flavor. I would probably try it with a more zesty pasta sauce next time (I used Frescorti Marinara). I would also try sprinkling cheese throughout the whole casserole, instead of just on top.

Baked Tilapia
This one became a favorite in our home - we call it "Pizza Fish." I usually make it with the pre-packaged bags of frozen tilapia from the supermarket freezer section. Besides cutting down the oil and butter, this recipe is perfect!
