This was the first time I was making apple pie ever. This recipe is my first apple pie recipe ever, and this is my last recipe, ever. There is no need to look for another apple pie recipe, I dont think there could be better out there. This pie was better thank any bakery pie I ever had. Thank you so much for posting this recipe. It was an outstanding pie. I used all granny smith apples, next time I will use a couple of sweeter apples as well, I used 6 nice sized apples instead of the 8. I dint use any of the nutmeg, vanilla, cinnamon and cloves that is suggested in its many great reviews, but I will next time just because it will be for Thanksgiving and the kids will appreciate a sweeter pie. I liked the tartness of all granny smith apples, especially with a white wine. I poured 3/4 of the liquid into the apples and stirred. The other 1/4 I brushed the lattice top with a pastry brush. When I baked it, I made sure my oven rack was at the lowest position so that the bottom crust would bake. I baked it adhering to the recipe temp and time. It was beautiful when it cam out of the oven. I couldnt believe I made that pie. The brushed liquid really made the pie look gorgeous. I cant wait to make it for my family for thanksgiving.
