Willy Wonka Mashed Potatoes

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2014
What I found helpful was to start cooking the hardest veggies first and then keep adding the rest of them in order of hardness - rutabaga & turnip, then red potato and a few minutes later the other potatoes. I cooked the beets separately. Very good taste with this mixture of veggies.

Spicy Chicken-n-Cheese Balls

Reviewed: Jan. 30, 2014
Too bland, too nothing. Too much baking mix even though I added only 2 cups of the 3. Don't often ditch recipes but will this one.

Country Seed Bread

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2013
The first time I made it I didn't have flax so added sunflower seeds. Very good. Now I add 2tbsp sunflower seed every time. If using bread machine yeast, the equivalent is just a bit over 3/4 tsp instead of the 1 1/4 tsp active dry yeast.

Carrot Soup

Reviewed: Feb. 10, 2013
Very good and easy. After I blended I did not cook any longer. I could see no reason to. It was very flavourful and was good cold as well. I will leave the butter out next time just to see how it turns out.

Microwave Corn on the Cob

Reviewed: Aug. 30, 2012
I've been cooking corn on the cob in my microwave for well over 30 years now. Got the method in my new Hitachi microwave cookbook then. Remove all but about the last 2 or 3 layers of husk. Trim the silk and the top. Microwave 2 cobs 5 minutes. Wait 5 minutes to eat. We keep repeating this until we have all the cobs we need.

Grilled Bacon Jalapeno Wraps

Reviewed: Oct. 12, 2011
These were wonderful. I made sure the edges met exactly after I filled them with cheese and before I wrapped them with bacon. Used a fairly meaty bacon that was thinly sliced. Used jalapenos that were about 2-3 inches long. They did not ooze and did not burn. They were not "hot" until you reached near the stem. I would not bother freezing as mine didn't ooze. 10 stars!

Portuguese Pork with Red Peppers

Reviewed: May 10, 2006
What a wonderful dish! I don't have a large mortar and pestle so used an mini chop. It did not break all the peppercorns so I did crush a few with my small mortar and pestle. Quite a few of the peppercorns remained whole. Although I thought it would be too peppery, it was such a hit at our house that it made the DEFINITELY MAKE AGAIN, AND SOON! list.

Spinach and Artichoke Au Gratin

Reviewed: Jan. 2, 2004
Decided to make this recipe for an appetizer. Did misread the recipe and used 3 8-ounce packages of cream cheese so had to add more milk and make another pan. It still turned out fantastically!!! One pan cut nicely into squares, the other worked better to spoon onto crackers.
