About this Cook
Recently relocated to sunny Arizona after 40 years in rainy gray Portland Oregon...loving it!
My favorite things to cook
Pasta (I love to experiment with different sauces). Slow cooker one pot meals are always a favorite. I'm starting to experiment with Southwestern cuisine since moving to Arizona, it's interesting to use more intense flavors and textures than I've used before. I also love to bake...cookies, cakes (pineapple upside down is my husband's favorite). We recently purchased a BBQ, something we never used in Portland, and my husband is loving trying new recipes for that. That's his domain...the darn thing scares the heck outta me!!!
My favorite family cooking traditions
I didn't really grow up with cooking traditions, so I have cultivated my own. I've passed them on to my daughter who loves to cook, and she is passing them on to my 4 grandchildren. She calls me all the time to tell me what delicious meal she has cooked...ahh...bonding over food.
My cooking triumphs
Every time I cook something that tastes good, that's a triumph! I'm getting better all the time. My recipe box is expanding day by day.
My cooking tragedies
My daughter loves my sugar cookies. One time she said she was coming over, so I whipped up a batch real quick. But I forgot one ingredient...THE SUGAR!!! They were so nasty even the dog wouldn't eat them! We still laugh about that.

Crispy Cereal Mix
I have absolutely become addicted to this! I do double the seasonings since we like a little stronger flavor. I also have added 1 teaspoon dried mustard and a dash of paprika. I make a big batch to take on road trips, but it's usually gone before we reach our destination! Thanks for posting Tawny.

Dreamy Nighttime Drink
This is sooo yummy. Made it tonite before bed...added a little extra honey. Didn't add nutmeg but may try that tomorrow night and (dare I say) a dollop of whipped cream! Nighty night!

Chicken Pot Pies with Puff Pastry
This is my go-to recipe when I have left over rotisserie chicken from the market. I did take a tip from another reviewer and cut back on the chicken broth and added a can of cream of chicken soup with herbs. I also prefer fresh veggies, so I dice Yukon gold potatoes and carrots, boil them in water for about 15 minutes, then add them to the sauce (after draining of course). I didn't have cheese the last time, but it turned out really good anyway. Thanks for the recipe!
