To Die For Fettuccine Alfredo

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
I've made this recipe many, many times since I first found it here in 2003, and I've not found a reason to change a thing. Every time it's served, there are raves around the table. Beside, it's fun to have a little 'race' with yourself as you finish it with the egg.

World's Best Lasagna

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
Bravo, John Chandler, and thanks for a great recipe. Like some others, I doubled the sauce recipe, cut back on the sugar and salt (to taste), added a little red vino and cooked the sauce a bit longer. Superb! I'll be using it for more than this lasagna. By all means, folks, do NOT boil the lasagna noodles. You can soak them as suggested by some or simply put them in uncooked and unsoaked (is that a word). Either way, they'll be fine. By preference is to soak them.

Broccoli with Garlic Butter and Cashews

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2010
A little too much butter and a little too little garlic, but it is a very nice dish to complement a meal.

Sweet Potato Casserole II

Made this for a friend and, after dinner, the leftovers were in the bag and on the way the the friend's home. Just a great, easy side dish!

Jamie's Minestrone

Reviewed: Feb. 22, 2008
Brava! I made this "mostly" following the recipe but adding white kidney beans instead of green beans and simply dumping in the pasta before simmering. Excellent recipe ... great taste! Thanks, Jamie.

Baked Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Dec. 5, 2004
This is a delicious variation on a corn casserole. Thank you! I used some Oscar Meyer bacon bits, a few more chile peppers and one-third creamed corn to 2/3 whole kernel (thereby reducing the "soupiness" noted by some others) with good results. The first servings resulted in seconds, a cleaned out casserole dish and a request for the recipe.

Spaghetti Carbonara II

This was my first time making this dish, and it turned out wonderfully. The tasters had rave reviews, and it's become a "regular" treat at our table.

Fabulous Fruit Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2003
An excellent, easy and well-received salad. Were I to make it again, I'd eliminate the walnuts, I think, and add some grapes.

Awesome and Easy Creamy Corn Casserole

Reviewed: Jul. 13, 2003
The "four stars" is just a personal reaction to what I perceive to be a rather bland taste to this recipe "as is", but it's still a wonderful (and after the recent dinner at which I served it, popular) dish. I added some jalapeno peppers (finally chopped, about 3 tbsp) and topped it with cheddar cheese. That added a nice little "kick" and some additional flavor that folks seemed to enjoy (everyone wanted the recipe!). I also used "Mexicali corn" for some color. By the way, I noted that some reviewers had some problems with baking consistency... I didn't find that to be a problem as it turned out nicely golden albeit with a slightly longer cooking time. Thanks, Ruthie, for a quick and easy recipe. Both your original and my "doctored" version will remain on the menu here for friends to enjoy!

Strawberry Spinach Salad I

Reviewed: Jun. 21, 2003
I read quite a few of the reviews of this salad before beginning its preparation, and I must agree that this is absolutely delicious "as is". However, on my second prep I slightly reduced the amount of sugar, added some bleu cheese (as others had suggested) and used balasmic rather than regular vinegar. Bellisimo! I scaled this to serving ten and got nine "WOWs" from the diners (I was modest and just smiled!). I'm not truly sure the paprika is all that useful in larger quantity. I'd suggest you chill everything for about two hours before serving... really adds a nice element to the overall experience.

Great Garlic Bread

Reviewed: May 12, 2003
Quite possibly the best garlic bread I've ever made... or consumed. I wondered, however, if combining fresh garlic with the butter as it melted might be another approach. I'll try that the next time... but will remember this quick and easy recipe. Thank you!

American Lasagna

Reviewed: May 11, 2003
This produces a delicious lasagna! Very nice... thank you, Rosemary. The ONLY reason I gave it only 4 stars is what I perceived as a need to alter the recipe by giving it half-and-half Italian sausage and lean hamburger, adding a bit more sauce to the lasagna prior to baking, cutting back on the salt, and throwing in some mushrooms and pimentoes to suit taste. Overall, this is a really, really good lasagna as is... don't mistake that.

Ooooh-la-la! Just made this "on the fly" for a dinner and got rave reviews! This is a nice "bright" dressing that has a sweet-sour nuance to it. I'll use it again!
