About this Cook
I am an older woman and have a lovely dog named Angel and two male cats Watson and Sherlock. We live in a house that has a lovely backyard that I love working in. I have done a lot of travelling before I acquired my dog seeing 22 countries and lvong every min. of it but now I'm content to just fill my days with gardening except in the winter when I do my video editing ( from my former travels) I don't know if I'll ever catch up on that. I love music of all sorts but mostly the "standards" from the 40's & 50's. Go to karaoke every week and really enjoy that. I love to entertain and cook something different for my friends, a lot of whom are in the same boat as me (alone) so they don't cook full meals for themselves as often. I also enjoy going out to different restaurants to try new foods. The most exotic foods I have had I guess would be crocodile in New Orleans and guinea pig in the Galapagos Islands where that is a delicacy.
My favorite things to cook
There are too many things I like to cook to name one would be impossible.
My favorite family cooking traditions
Since I have outlived most of my family there is really only one tradition that I still adhere to and that is my Burbon Pecan Christmas cakes and my Aunt's walnut bread the receipe has to be almost 125 yrs. old. Everyone loves both of these. Perhaps later on I will share them with your readers.
My cooking tragedies
Fortunately I don't have too many of these but one I recall was the time I was making a fresh seafood casserole. I "thought" I had followed the receipe to the letter but oh , my, it turned out more like a soup than a casseroleI was so embarrased. I just kept pouring a few more drinks to my guests and dashed around looking for more seafood to thicken it up with. In the end no one realized the problem I had had and were quite generous with their compliments.

Beef with Vegetables
Oh oh, I hope the people reading this realize you meant cornstarch in your directions and NOT corn Flour. A novice might not know the difference. Proof reading your submission would have been a help.

Easy Polenta with Tomato Sauce
Made this for the first time today (a lot of Polenta for one person) it turned out perfect. Could eat it the way it is, as it was thick enough when it came out of the oven but I will have a lot of it to reheat . I did make a couple of changes because I didn't think it would be too tasty as. I chopped VERY finely 3 garlic cloves, and added about 2 tsp. of a dry seasoning I brought back from Italy called spaghettata.(If you ever see this in your country grab a bag. Oh my did that ever improve the flavour. Can't wait to share it with my Italian neighbour. Didn't use the tomato sauce (I only want that on spaghetti) If anything I'd use a mushroom sauce or Celery sauce? I will use "this" batch of polenta with lamb stew over it. Thanks for sharing.
