About this Cook
I cook both in my tiny galley kitchen at home, and on the hearth in the kitchen of the 1796 home where I work. Believe it or not, the food coming from the hearth is almost always tastier than that from the modern kitchen.
My cooking triumphs
Pie crusts. I used to have a terrible time with them, and didn't try them for years. Now I am usually successful and people love my pies!
My cooking tragedies
Donuts. Every time I try, something goes wrong. I will triumph some day!

Big Soft Ginger Cookies
Soft, spicy, delicious! I love this recipe. I add a little more ginger and chopped some of my candied ginger and threw that in as well. I ran out of white flour and substituted 3/4 cup whole wheat and it was still great.

Cranberry Pistachio Biscotti
I have made this several different times, and its always a hit! I like that it uses olive oil--it makes it a little less sweet and a little more Italian. I usually change out the pistachios for almond slivers, then drizzle melted white chocolate on after the second bake.

I used this recipe as a base for my specialty "chocolate chip cannoli kugel" (will post later) for a contest at temple. I didn't win--but guess what did? THIS recipe! So you know it must be good!
