Crunchy Tuna Surprise

Reviewed: Aug. 22, 2011
This was a very bland recipe. It needs more of something to make it taste less like paste.

Tuna Noodle Casserole I

Reviewed: Mar. 1, 2011
I just didn't like this recipe. It needs something, but I'm not sure what will make it less bland. I tried putting potato chips on top, but that didn't help. I tried serving it with cottage cheese and that helped a bit. I won't be making it again.

Waldorf Salad II

Reviewed: May 17, 2009
This Waldorft Salad recipe tastes just like my mom's. I didn't have any raisins but I did have dried cherries. Mom always told me to make due with what you have instead of running to the store.

Hearty Turkey Soup with Parsley Dumplings

Reviewed: May 12, 2009
My review is only for the dumplings. While they tasted okay, when I dropped them by tablespoons into my hot liquids, they fell apart. I got them to hold together by pressing them together with my hands like meatballs. I don't think I'll be trying this recipe again anytime soon.

Savory Corn Muffins

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
Some of the reviewers thought these muffins were too salty. I tried them out on my family and we all thought they tasted great. I'm not a big fan of sweet cornbread therefore this hit the spot. They also stayed very moist into the next day.

Mushroom Saute

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2008
I wasn't sure my family would like the spices included in this recipe, but they raved about them when I served them with steaks fresh off the grill.

Banana Chocolate Chip Cake

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2008
I tried this recipe after I read some of the reviews. It's a very simple, easy recipe to follow and a snap to put together in a hurry. Like the other reviewers I made some slight changes. I added a teaspoon of vanilla, a cup and a half of bananas and a cup of milk chocolate chips. I used the other ingredients in the amounts listed. I also used an 8 x 8 inch pan. I had to cook it a bit longer than called for in the recipe, but the cake came out very moist and not overly sweet.

Sweet and Sour Pepper Pork

Reviewed: Aug. 23, 2008
My family really loved this recipe. I made just a couple of changes with I doubled the recipe. I used 3 tbsps brown sugar instead of white sugar and threw in a can of pineapple. I also used the pineapple juice instead of the water called for in the original recipe.

Hot German Potato Salad III

Reviewed: May 28, 2008
My daughter is in the Air Force and whenever she gets home on leave she especially requests this dish. I made one change to it. I use apple cider vinegar instead of plain white vinegar. I was out of white vinegar the first time I made it and everyone just thought it was great using apple cider vinegar.

Chicken Dumpling Strips

These dumplings were delicious. I used butter as I didn't have shortening and buttermilk. Um-um good!

Velvety Walnut Fudge Pie

Reviewed: Mar. 30, 2008
This pie is delicious and easy to make. I used instant pudding because that was all I had on hand and it seemed to turn out fine.

This is a very good side dish. I added celery to mine and used fresh mushrooms. My family really loved it. I made a big batch and everyone asked for seconds.

Grandma's Sour Cream Pound Cake

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
One of the best pound cake recipes I have every made. I baked mine in a slightly cooler oven (325)and it came out a beautiful golden brown. I had a little bit left over after a week and I made trifle with it. Yummy!

Shrimp, Broccoli, and Sun-dried Tomatoes Scampi with Angel Hair

Reviewed: Jul. 15, 2006
I really liked this recipe. It didn't take a lot of prep time and I had most of the ingredients on hand without having to make a trip to the store. I didn't have angel hair pasta so I used farfalle (bow ties). I sprinkled a three cheese blend (parmesan, romano and asiago)on top just before serving. I think the leftovers will be equally tasty served cold as a refresing summer salad.

Sour Cream Banana Cake

Reviewed: Apr. 12, 2006
I really liked the cake part pof this recipe. I agree it makes a big, moist cake. If your cake was dry, you probably overcooked it. I didn't have brown sugar so I used white sugar. I also used 3-1/2 c. all purpose flour and 3 bananas because that was all I had on hand. I wasn't fond of the frosting. Another reviewer said the recipe didn't make much frosting, but I ended up with a huge bowl full of it. I took it to work and while most people liked the cake, many commented the frosting was just too sweet. Next time I will use a cream cheese frosting.

It you love "turtle" candy you will love this cake. The recipe is quick and easy but the results look like you've worked for hours. I took it to work and everyone raved.
