Caramel Pecan Shortbread Bars

Reviewed: Oct. 9, 2014
These are very good. I made them in a 9x10 pan so the cookie part was a little thick. I think next time I will invest in the right size pan. I made my own caramels by dividing 2 cans of sweetened condensed milk in 3 8oz jars with lids. Cover them with water in my slow cooker on low for 8 hours. Then you add 1 tsp of vanilla to each jar and beat with a wisk. You have homemade caramel. The only reason that I gave this 4 stars instead of 5 was when you added the chocolate it didn't want to stay creamy. I think the "rich hot fudge sauce" recipe that is on this website would of been a better choice for the chocolate. I will try that next time.

Real Homemade Bagels

Reviewed: Oct. 6, 2014
I made these plain because my intentions were to make bagel sandwiches out of them with egg sausage and cheese. While I was making them I thought they were going to be pretty ugly but, they turned out looking like a professional had done them. The recipe was easy to follow. The only thing I did differently was added a tablespoon of lemon juice to the mixture to act as a preservative. I have found that it makes the bread stay fresher longer without molding. I made 8 out of the recipe instead of 6 and they were still huge!

Mel's Crab Salad

Reviewed: Sep. 26, 2014
This is great! I did not wait to eat it though. It might have been better the next day but, I never found out because it was so good. I did use regular buttermilk ranch though because I don't like the fat free or reduced calorie. I only used a 1/4 cup of mayo and I added a little bit of cream to give it that extra that it needed from the reduction of mayo. It was great. Will make this again!!!

San Francisco Sourdough Bread

Reviewed: Sep. 22, 2014
I must say I have a weakness for bread and this one did NOT disappoint! The only thing I done differently was added a tablespoon of lemon juice and 2 tablespoons of dough enhancer. I read on another forum that lemon juice along with dough enhancer helped during the rising process. I baked it in two normal size bread pans Half way through the baking process I had to take the bread out and remove one of my racks because it was so tall. I ended up putting it on the lower rack in the oven and it baked wonderfully. I couldn't really taste the sour dough taste but, I blame that on my starter not being very old. I thought the lemon juice would help the starter create that tangy taste of sour dough but, I couldn't taste the lemon in it at all. However I will use the lemon juice and dough enhancer from now on because I am really impressed with how well it worked. I am going to try it again in a few weeks when my starter matures a little more because I think it will only get better. As for now it still deserves 5 stars :)

Buttermilk Pancakes II

Reviewed: Nov. 30, 2013
I made these using the dried butter powder, dried buttermilk, dried milk and dried eggs so I could have a "just add water" pancake mix and I have to say it is really good. I was shocked :)

Cake Mix Yeast Rolls

Reviewed: Oct. 13, 2013
This recipe gets 5 stars from me because it's easy. Turns out each time no matter what I do with it. I've braided it, made sub sandwiches out of it and rolls. It turns out pretty and most importantly it tastes great!

Buttery Soft Pretzels

Reviewed: Oct. 8, 2013
I have made these a couple of times now and I must say these are by far the best tasting pretzels I've ever had. I always have to decrease my flour by 2/3 of a cup though. I'm thinking maybe it's the elevation I'm at. Today - I came up with adding 1/4 c. jalapeno powder, 1 large diced jalapeno's and 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese to the dough. These are estimates because I cook by sight lol. All I can say is WOW! They were amazing :)

No Bake Peanut Butter Pie

This is good but, it's really rich. One small piece is about all a person could handle.
