Cranberry Sauce

Reviewed: Nov. 29, 2013
This recipe is very good, but it's way too sweet. I doubled it and added grand marnier at the suggestion of others, and it tasted fantastic, albeit with candy-like sweetness. It would be perfect otherwise. My family remarked that it tasted like drinking sugar syrup and the huge bowl remained virtually untouched, what a waste. :(

Hot Artichoke and Spinach Dip II

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
i can't even believe i can make food that tastes so good! everyone said it tasted exactly like restaurant dip. i, like others, also used sour cream instead of mayo. i also added a couple cloves of garlic in. i also covered it with cheese and baked it in the oven so it came out browned. my friends loved it and i had no leftovers. i'll definitely be making this again!

BBQ Pork for Sandwiches

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
i love, love, love to make this. it's so easy! i make it exactly as is. i try to buy honey bbq because my boyfriend and i like that better. i also add a chopped onion and a clove of garlic. it smells wonderful and tastes so good in the sandwich. i also took the advice of others and shredded it and cooked it a little more. it's lovely, i've made it so many times. thank you!

Easy Slow Cooker French Dip

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
i haven't gotten around to reviewing this, but i've already made this so many times. everytime someone hears that i am making this, they ask if i can save them leftovers. it's so easy to make and it tastes unbelievable. the meat is just so tender and juicy. i change very little, i use french onion soup and beef consomme. i choose cheap cuts of meat but usually trim all the fat off. there's really no need for it since it comes out entirely tender and all the fat just sits at the top of the cooker anyway. also i make sure to use guiness beer (the thicker, the better). also before i start cooking, i toss in a chopped onion and a couple cloves of garlic. my boyfriend wants me to add some mushrooms in as well. also, i took it out about an hour before serving and sliced the meat and put it back in for more cooking. honestly, if i didn't even change anything about the recipe, it's still fantastic. i'm just addicted to garlic so i have to put some in everything. this is wonderful and my home smells great after a day of cooking! thank you for this wonderful recipe. it's difinitely a treasure in my box.

Breakfast Sausage

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
i made this for my boyfriend because he LOVES breakfast foods. he's not the biggest fan of sausage but i like it. i figured this would be a much healthier way of eating sausage since it's usually artery clogging when you eat at restaurants. anyway i made a ton of patties and gave some to my aunt and her family. my boyfriend and i loved it! and my aunt and my cousin raved about it and want more. thank you for sharing this recipe! it tastes great.

Scrambled Eggs Done Right

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
who knew scrambled eggs could be so delicious! my boyfriend said it tasted like something we would eat at a restaurant and i agree! i can't have my eggs any other way now. also, i don't even taste the mayo whatsoever. my boyfriend who HATES mayo couldn't even tell i put it in. perhaps thouse who said it tasted very obvious put too much? i didn't change a thing about this recipe.

Spinach and Sun-Dried Tomato Pasta

Reviewed: Dec. 15, 2008
my father has hypertension and i picked this as our meal for the night. he's not allowed to eat salt much so this was perfect! i was afraid it might be bland because he doesn't eat garlic/onions/meat for religious reasons either. it was absolutely fantastic though! this is definitely something i will be making for him more often. it's easy and it's yummy. i'm usually someone who prefers very strong flavors but i was very surprised that i enjoyed it! thank you for this recipe. he mentioned that next time i could probably add some baby broccoli, fresh tomatoes, or mushrooms as well. i think i'll try that next time, but if you don't have a lot of ingredients at hand, this is wonderful as is.

Salmon Chowder

Reviewed: Jan. 9, 2007
It was personally too fishy for me but maybe it was because I had not used fresh salmon or the smoked salmon. I used canned 14 ounce but I should've went for the 2 6 oz cans as someone else mentioned because it was too much salmon. I also should've bought boneless because there were little bone bits I couldn't remove. Perhaps I will try again next time when the opportunity arrises. Other than that, my boyfriend and his roommates completely loved it. We finished the whole pot in one night.

Perhaps I didn't make it right but it didn't taste that good for me and mine was a bit soggy. I'll try again next time.

Homestyle Turkey, the Michigander Way

Reviewed: Nov. 22, 2006
My first time ever cooking a Turkey for a large group of my friends turned out to be the biggest cooking success! I have gotten so many comments about how this could be the best turkey they have ever tasted in their life. I followed the recipe exactly except for the baking. I lightly patted the turkey down with canola oil and I baked it at 500 for about 50 minutes and then the rest of the time covered it with a foil to bake for 2.5 more hours at 350. I also gave the turkey a brining from the night before. I am so excited about it that I will try to make this again at my aunt's Thanksgiving! Thank you!!

My Best Clam Chowder

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2006
This was perfect. I made this recipe exactly as written and it came out delicious. My entire household was raving about it; the whole pot was finished in less than an hour. I love the flavor the vinegar gives it, it's a great twist! Thank you, this will definitely be something I make again.
