i haven't gotten around to reviewing this, but i've already made this so many times. everytime someone hears that i am making this, they ask if i can save them leftovers. it's so easy to make and it tastes unbelievable. the meat is just so tender and juicy.
i change very little, i use french onion soup and beef consomme. i choose cheap cuts of meat but usually trim all the fat off. there's really no need for it since it comes out entirely tender and all the fat just sits at the top of the cooker anyway. also i make sure to use guiness beer (the thicker, the better). also before i start cooking, i toss in a chopped onion and a couple cloves of garlic. my boyfriend wants me to add some mushrooms in as well. also, i took it out about an hour before serving and sliced the meat and put it back in for more cooking.
honestly, if i didn't even change anything about the recipe, it's still fantastic. i'm just addicted to garlic so i have to put some in everything. this is wonderful and my home smells great after a day of cooking! thank you for this wonderful recipe. it's difinitely a treasure in my box.
