Potato Chowder Soup I

No flavor. I fixed it up with chicken granules, bay leaf, celery salt, worstershire. Better. More of a soup than a chowder (watery). But a good basic start.

Slow Cooker Homemade Beans

Did not cook after 8 hours. Let it go for 10 hours. Still no good. Then the sauce started to get too tangy and headed toward bitter. Then I dumped it out. Now I'm looking for a new recipe. Yich. Obvious glitches which I now see after a bit of study: have to pre-soak beans. Ketchup (acid) and salt do bad things to beans that don't let them slow cook properly. Also, this was a soupy mess, much too much liquid.

Jollof Rice

Wow! This has shot up to my favorite dish. So easy to make. The flavor is incredible. Spicy, but not too spicy. Really unique. Reminded me of food we get at a local Jamaican restaurant. Meat was done perfectly.

Mostaccioli with Spinach and Feta

This has become my family's favorite meal. Made it 3 times now. Only problem is that when we sit down we can't stop eating it. It's TOO good. Very easy to make too.

April's Chicken Fried Rice

This recipe just didn't work for me. I chilled the rice as others suggested but I couldn't get it to fry. I was using sesame oil in a hot wok. I've done lots of chinese stir frying but never fried rice before. Rice began sticking so I added wine to deglaze and wound up with mushy rice. It was edible, but very bland. Had to add lots of spice to make it taste like anything.
