Avocado and Black Bean Dip

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2014
Easy to make even if you don't have a microwave (like me!), just heat up the beans, mash them when they're done, then add and mix in all the other ingredients. I've used it on crackers, tortillas and as a cold dip for nachos. Always a winner!

Bacon and Egg Breakfast Tarts

Reviewed: Nov. 18, 2014
Great recipe! I used some pre-baked puff pastry shells, although it did mean I had to cut down on the filling somewhat (but that was OK, it meant I got to make a small omlette on the side!) and I "yummed" my way through my portion! As others have mentioned, this is a good 'base' recipe, if you want you can add some diced veggies or exchange the bacon for ham, but for me, the basic recipe was delicious! Thanks for posting!

Pomegranate Guacamole

Very tasty, very healthy (for a dip!) especially the next day after all the flavours have combined.

Japanese-Style Grilled Mushrooms

Reviewed: Apr. 17, 2014
This was literally the best mushroom side-dish recipe I've ever tried. I also don't understand why some people have rated the recipe lower - if you don't like sesame oil so much, scale down the amount you use (or as I did because we'd run out of sesame oil, use olive oil!) and watch it to make sure it doesn't burn! Use your own gut instincts...

Chef John's Ham and Potato Soup

Reviewed: Mar. 12, 2014
This is one of the best soups I've ever had, full stop. Don't change a thing about the recipe, it's amazing as it is!

Creamy Pea Soup from National Dairy Council

Reviewed: Jan. 17, 2014
I didn't follow the recipe precisely, rather I used full fat milk (low fat just tastes awful!) and home-made chicken stock. I also only added half the peas and blended the veg mix with the milk. Overall, a very tasty soup!

Creamy Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Nov. 11, 2013
I don't like potatoes (and must be the only person on the planet who doesn't) but have FINALLY found a recipe I like! Had to use cream (as the boyfriend had thoughtfully drank up all the milk "to save it from going bad" only 30 mins before I started to cook) but if anything the recipe was tastier, albeit unhealthier. Cream makes everything taste good!!

Breakfast Zinger Juice

Reviewed: Oct. 27, 2013
Very healthy way to start the day - I can feel the vitamins revitalising my system with each sip! One word of warning: if you only have a small blender (as I do) be careful, it doesn't turn it into juice unless you add water or another kind of liquid (I mixed some orange juice and water together), and be careful the liquid doesn't come seeping out as you whizz away. Time for me to buy a juicer...

Blueberry Cornbread

Reviewed: Oct. 1, 2013
Being British and therefore having no idea what cornmeal was (having only read about it in American children's literature) I had no idea what to think of this recipe when I found it, but I'm SO glad I tried it! The combination of milk and cornmeal adds a whole new dimension of both texture and flavour to the cake (and now I know why you Americans call it 'bread' and not 'cake'... it's much less sweet than a lot of other recipes, good for those with more of a savoury tooth). The only thing I wish I'd done differently was bake it for 35 mins - 30 mins wasn't quite enough: so watch that tooth pick like a hawk!

Red Currant Pie

Reviewed: Jul. 1, 2013
AMAZINGLY DELICIOUS!! In less than 24 hours after baking this cake I've already forwarded it to four of my baker friends. Sure, it takes a long time to pick 250g of individual currants from their stalks, but it's well worth it, I promise. The only difference between my method and the one specified in the recipe is that I had to add water to make the dough stick together, but no big deal. I also used flour instead of cornflour and that was fine. TRY THIS RECIPE!!

Steak n Ale Pie

The only difference I made was a little (not a whole) stock cube to the water. Beyond tasty!

Butternut Squash Casserole

Reviewed: Oct. 4, 2012
Can't believe I'd never tried butternut squash before (ever!) but they were half price in the supermarket, and I was intrigued. This was the RIGHT recipe to test my curiosity! YUM YUM YUM! I didn't add the topping (had no wafers or anything similar) but it was sweet enough. Thanks for the recipe!

Ham and Split Pea Soup Recipe - A Great Soup

Reviewed: Aug. 1, 2012
I am an absolute (note ABSOLUTE) beginner when it comes to making soups, however I am a very practised taster of them. This recipe was so easy to follow and what's more, tasted DELICIOUS. Boyfriend is happy, I'm happy, I'm recommending it to my friends :)
