Whoopie Pies VIII

Reviewed: Aug. 29, 2007
These are very good, easy to make however the frosting filling tasted too much like confectionary sugar. Maybe it a little cream cheese was put in the mix it would be better. I made them way tooo big. These are very sweet. Next time I will make them the size of an oreo not the size of my hand. My 7 year old son had one and finished about 3/4 of one and started to feel sick from it being so sweet. It made about 16 large pies which I froze 8 of. I ran out of syranwrap so I put 4 pies in a dish, placed wax paper over them and put 4 more on top put the lid on the dish and froze them. I'm looking forward to trying them frozen.

Pumpkin Rolls II

Reviewed: Sep. 17, 2007
MMMmmmm....tastey, soft and sweet. I used 1 1/2 Tbsp of rapid rise yeast. With rapid rice you don't need to proof the yeast, makes it alot easier. Just threw everything together all at once and mixed with the kitchenaid. I had to put in about 5 1/2 c of flour and bake at 375 because I live in Colorado in high altitude.

Bierocks (German Meat Turnovers)

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
ok so my husband changed this recipe alot when he cooked it, but this was thebase recipe he went off of. the dough - he used thed dough recipe from Pam's Bierocks. The dough turned out amazing. Soft and delicous! He used a chuck steak that he braised with the rest of the spices from the ingredients. Braised it for a few hours. The dough after it was made stayed in the fridge all night. The next day he added the meat after it was shredded to about a cup to a cup and a half of saurkraut and used that as the filling. Was very good. So we changed it quite a bit, but was very good. Just to give you some ideas of what you can do with this recipe. Thanks.

Roasted Pork Loin

Reviewed: Feb. 13, 2007
Deffinetly doesnt need to be a loin roast. Loin roast is too delicate for this recipe. I followed it to a T with the same size roast and everything. I cooked it for 2 hrs and it came out dry. I will make again, but I will not use a loin roast.

I wont be making this again this way. I made it exact to the recipe but there wasnt enough sauce so I doubled it. I also put orange rinds in it because it wasnt strong enough of a flavor.

Slow Cooker Spanish Roast

Reviewed: Aug. 21, 2007
I didn't have olives, I wish I did because that would have been outstanding! I chopped up carrots, mushrooms, and zucchini and added it to the sauce just to hide some veggies for my kids. Served it over rotoni noodles.

Pepperoni Stuffed Zucchini

Reviewed: Sep. 3, 2007
I liked this alot. They make a great lunch or slice them in 1" slices after baking and serve as appetizers. I sauted the onions pepperoni and zucchini "insides" with salt and pepper. I do recommend salt and peppering the inside of the zucchini before stuffing so that gets some flavor as well. I topped it off with some freshly grated parmasian and baked in the toaster oven.

Grilled Mustard Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jul. 22, 2007
Amazing! I put EVOO on the potatoes right b4 grilling and then after grilling put the potatoes in a freezer bag with the marinade and set in fridge for a few hours to soak up the marinade. Right b4 serving I chopped up some fresh cilantro about 1/2 c worth and tossed it in the salad. Everyone loved it! Was terrific~

Oaty Cereal Bars

this recipe is great. I alternated it a bit. I used cheerios and added trail mix instead of just salted peanuts. Then I made another batch minus the peanut butter and used fruit loops. outstanding for the kids.

Barb's Supreme Curried Ham and Egg Stacks

Reviewed: Jan. 13, 2008
I thought this was nice, I changed it a little however just because I was trying to have the fat content lowered a bit. I made it as an open faced sandwhich w one piece of toast (I had no english muffins). I forgot to saute a shallot, so I just fried a piece of ham, spinach on top and 1 egg over easy. I topped it with a little hot sauce as well. I know I changed it alot but I had to for my diet. I really enjoyed that there was spinach on it to add fiber in the meal. Thanks.

Family Sicilian Sauce and Meatballs

Reviewed: May 13, 2008
Hardy, rich wonderful sauce, we added 1 1/2c extra Pinot noir, also because we were short on time we pressure cooked it for 40 min, then finished simmering when we added the meatballs for 30 in pressure cooker. One of the better sauces we've made from this site
