Bierocks (German Meat Turnovers)

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2007
ok so my husband changed this recipe alot when he cooked it, but this was thebase recipe he went off of. the dough - he used thed dough recipe from Pam's Bierocks. The dough turned out amazing. Soft and delicous! He used a chuck steak that he braised with the rest of the spices from the ingredients. Braised it for a few hours. The dough after it was made stayed in the fridge all night. The next day he added the meat after it was shredded to about a cup to a cup and a half of saurkraut and used that as the filling. Was very good. So we changed it quite a bit, but was very good. Just to give you some ideas of what you can do with this recipe. Thanks.

I used left over pork that I cooked in a slow cooker with mushrooms. I chopped it all up, put it in a sauce pan and used a bottle of salsa verde and chicken broth and garlic. I didnt put in the jalepenos because one of my sons cant handle hot food. It was very good. I will make this again sometime exactly how you are sapose to.

Latin Slaw

Was very good, a healthier way to eat cabbage than the mayo based coleslaw. Something seemed like it was missing, but it was very good. My husband took the left overs to work for lunch. Thanks for the recipe. I will make this again.

Chicken Rice Casserole

Reviewed: Jan. 16, 2007
Pretty good. I sauted onions, celery, 1/2 green pepper and fresh mushrooms to make them soft. I used cream of mushroom soup because thats what I had on hand, and I used sliced american cheese tore up because I didn't notice that I didn't have cheddar on hand till it was too late. I topped it with french fried onions, didn't use the lemon juice, and I forgot to put in the mayo, dinners can be hectic at my house. Next time I will use the mayo to make it creamy. Wasn't dry at all. My 3 boys - age 7, 4 and 1 loved it.
