German Sweet Chocolate Cake I

Reviewed: Jul. 14, 2014
I specifically used this recipe for the frosting recipe. It makes more and more is best. The recipe is so delicious and incredibly sinful. So, easy and by far superior to store brought. I will always make thisinstead of buying it. The entire raved about it for days....no, weeks actually. So, yummy!!! Oh, and yes make the frosting first....then bake your cake. It's a must, it needs to set up a long while.

French Breakfast Puffs

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2014
Yummy! I just made these and thank goodness I followed the advice of another review that said it bakes in less time so, watch them. They were very ready at 15mins. I rolled the entire muffin in the topping mixture which I doubled. I also added vanilla to my batter. The kids and hubby went crazy for these. Will be making these a lot.

Chicken and Chorizo Pasta Bake

Reviewed: Mar. 24, 2014
Yay, we all liked it. I didn't have all of the ingredients but, this was a great starting point. I used spaghetti sauce and dry milk. I chopped up an onion but had no green pepper. I used egg noodles because that's all I had. I must say that I added a small can of chipotle pepper sauce and it made all the difference. Dash of cumin and smoked paprika, too. Kids ate it up. We definitely make again.

Grands!® Mini Pizzas

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
I can't believe we've never made these before. The kids loved rolling them out and topping them with all their favorites. They went nuts for them. I baked at 350 for 10mins but they didn't look done in the middle Although, the bottoms were golden. So, I turned off the oven and put them back in for 3more mins. They were perfect and delicious!

Monkey Bread Made Easy

Reviewed: Jan. 20, 2014
We loved this easy recipe! I tried to use my Apple slicer to cut the biscuits up but, it didn't work. I think it was too dull. So, I used scissors and cut the biscuits in half then in thirds. The kids loved helping and they went crazy for them. The only thing I did different was bake at 350 for 16-18 mins and add toasted walnuts. I watched these babies like a hawk because I was worried they would burn. I made them in a mini Bundt cake pan and the rest in a cupcake pan. I must say that they were adorable as mini Bundt cakes. The sticky butter goo was the best part so, next time I will make a half batch more. So, cute and yummy! And it's true there was no uncooked middle.

Sesame Pasta Chicken Salad

Reviewed: Dec. 14, 2013
Very delicious!!! I had to quickly put together a lunch so, I didn't have cilantro or green onion. I definitely think it would be even better with both. I cut two chicken breasts into bite size pieces and sauteed with garlic and onion powder and more ground ginger. Then I decided to add about 2Tbsp of peanut butter to the cooked chicken. Then I mixed it into the dressed pasta with julienned carrots, cashews, and water chestnuts. So, yummy! FYI: I did love the dressing on its own and I'm not sure if the peanut butter really added much.

Chicken Wild Rice Soup I

Reviewed: Nov. 15, 2013
Yum!!! We loved it! I doubled the carrots, rice, curry and dry mustard. I didn't have sherry so, I used 1 1/2 Tbsp of apple cider vinegar. I used evaporated milk instead of half and half and I didn't make a roux, I used cornstarch. I forgot all about the almonds but will truly it next time. Very satisfying!

Mom's Favorite Baked Mac and Cheese

Yum! Kids loved it. I only made a few changes because of what I had at home. I used all medium cheddar cheese and a couple of squirts of yellow mustard instead of dry mustard. Yummy!

Chicken Tequila Fettuccini

Reviewed: Nov. 12, 2013
I had most of the ingredients so, I decided to give it a whirl. Delicious! I sauteed onions and garlic then added fajita seasoned raw chicken tenders. I added the cilantro and used 1/2 cup of minced pickled jalapenos with 2 Tbsp of the juice. Then I deglazed with almost 1/2 cup of tequila and a cup of chicken broth. I let it cook down and concentrate a little then added a jar of Alfredo sauce, 1/2 tsp each of smoked paprika and cumin. I did not use any soy sauce. Oh, yeah it was yum! Hubby loved it. I'm going shopping for the lime and peppers next time.

Beef Tips and Noodles

Reviewed: Oct. 29, 2013
Loved how easy and tasty this is. I doubled the recipe but I didn't double the onion soup mix. Plus, I added 1 1/2 cups of milk and several dashes of Worschshirer sauce. I browned the meat and threw it all in the slow cooker.

Fudge

Reviewed: Oct. 28, 2013
I made 2 batches, one with old chocolate & just expired sweetened condensed milk and one with newly purchased chocolate & sweetened condensed milk. Both batches came out delicious. I was kind of surprised that the older products worked so well. They had a firmer texture while I stirred so, I thought it was a fail. But, thank goodness I followed it through. YUM!

Quick Chicken Piccata

I don't know what went wrong but it was too bitter. I think I may have used too much wine. It was actually better the next day but I wouldn't make this again. My 5yr nephew loved it so, maybe it's just me.

Mama's Ambrosia

Reviewed: Oct. 7, 2013
Suddenly, I had a craving for this! Wow, super yummy! I omitted the coconut and nuts but added chopped apples, crushed pineapple, halved cherries!! Loved it even more when I omitted the fruit salad and just added chopped peaches and halved green grapes to the oranges, apples, cherries and pineapple! I also increased the amount of marshmallows and doubled the sour cream because there was so much more fruit I had added. Who knew that the marshmallows melt into the sour cream and make a yummy fluffy texture. Oh, I'm going to be making this a lot!! I have since made this several times and even used canned fruit salad and its still very yummy!

Baked Potato Salad

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2013
I've had this salad at potlucks before so, I thought I would like it more than I did. The flavors work well but it was thick and a lttle gummy. My hubby loves baked potatoes but he wouldn't eat seconds or take it to lunch the next day. Maybe my measurements were off, who knows.

Slow Cooker Carnitas

Reviewed: Jun. 11, 2013
Loved this!! I read through the reviews and took some advice from others. I had 3lbs so, I doubled the spices except the cinnamon. I also added 1tsp of allspice, 1 tblspn of onion powder, & one can of coke. I also added 1/2 of water with 2 low sodium chicken stock packets. I through it in the crokcer for and did not turn it as instructed. I'm glad I didn't because it had a really good crust of spices that was full of flavor. Will definitely make again but with a lttle less cinnamon/allspice.

Slow-Cooker Chicken Tortilla Soup

We loved this soup!!! I can't believe how good it came out! I added a rinsed can of black beans and used a can of Rotel instead of the whole tomatoes. I also used all chick broth instead of using water. WINNER!

Steak House Au Gratin Potatoes

Reviewed: Dec. 2, 2012
I needed this recipe to use as a starting point. I wanted to fill my large slow cooker so, I sliced thin 10 potatoes, 1 stick of butter, 1 pint of heavy cream, 1/2 cup of milk, 1 cup cheddar cheese, 1/2 cup of parmasan cheese, a pinch of nutmeg, 1 tsp thyme, and a few heavy shakes of garlic powder. I didn't have flour so, I sprinkled the potatoes with 3 tsp of Bisquick then heated the cream, butter, milk, cheeses and pour it over the potatoes. Set the slow cooker to HIgh for 4.5 hours. Crazy Yummy!!!

Slow Cooker Butter Chicken

Reviewed: Nov. 27, 2012
We LOVED this! I followed the recipe almost as written. I added an extra thigh and 2 tsp of sugar. I took the thigh meat off the bone myself. I didn't have to worry about getting it all off because I just threw the bones in the slow cooker, too. The meat was all cooked off and I'm sure it added alot of flavor. I took bones out along with the cardamom seeds. I also read about adding fenugreek leaves but while I was shopping I read the ingredients of the curry powders and found one that had fenugreek in it. SCORE! Oh man, the flavor was excellent and to our surprise ours had a really nice spicy kick to it. Now, that I have all of the spices I will definitely make this again and again. The only thing I need is some Naan next time.

Quick Enchilada Sauce

Reviewed: Oct. 19, 2012
THis was pretty easy and tasted good. I made it only because I didn't want to drive to the store when I didn't have enough sauce for my dinner. The only change I made was I used california chiles and toasted them and blended it with everything else because I had no chili powder.
