My favorite things to cook
Thanksgiving dinner-the bigger the better. And Rouladen... And pie... And breakfast... And chicken pot pie...And pasta...
My favorite family cooking traditions
I wouldn't say it's a tradition, but my favorite is that on every special occasion, my husband and I pick out a meal we've never had before, and make it together. Holidays, Birthdays, Anniversaries are all spent together in the kitchen whether we're cooking for other people or just us. Usually i do the cooking unless I have to work late, then he will throw in a freezer pizza or make something simple, so it feels super extra special having him in there with me. We make a good team and a good dinner.
My cooking triumphs
Our first thanksgiving together, my husband wanted to have the holiday with his family and I wanted to have it with mine. Neither of our families had big dinner plans and we wanted to spend the holiday together so 2 days before, we convinced both of them to come to us. We had no idea what we were doing but somehow it turned out great, stayed up late doing all the prep work and making the cold dishes and we got up super early and made the turkey with a hope and a prayer and somehow everything turned out perfect. And better yet, our families actually managed to get along for the evening (which was a first).
