Fra Diavolo Sauce With Pasta

Reviewed: Feb. 8, 2004
This recipe is easy to prepare and has an awesome taste. My husband and I loved it, my kids even liked it. I too cut the red pepper in half and it was spicy enough. Next time I am making a double batch, it went that fast.

Burrito Pie

Reviewed: Feb. 11, 2004
This recipe truly feeds a crowd. I split the mixture into two casserole dishes for 2 meals. It was really easy to make and tasted delicious. My husband raved about it and I will definitely make this often. I made a couple adjustments that really worked for our family. I added a package of taco seasoning after the meat was browned and took off the extra grease. I also was nervous about the "heat" of the recipe. We love a good spicy dish and the ingredients looked harmless with the exception of the taco sauce. I used half the jar of taco sauce, medium heat, and the rest medium heat salsa and it was just right..had a good kick, not overbearing for our taste. I also found it needed more cheese than the 9oz Colby. I used a 2c package of shredded Colby Jack and a 2c package of shredded cheddar. I may try it with ground chicken or turkey next time for a different twist. I can hardly wait to defrost the second serving for a future meal. This recipe would be great for a pot luck. Be sure to bring the recipe, because they will be asking for it.

Slow-Cooker Pepper Steak

Reviewed: Feb. 15, 2004
My husband really liked it, I thought it was okay. I made it with round steak and it had a drier, dull taste. Next time I will use the sirloin and I will probably like it more. The peppers could be increased with no problem and I will probably increase the cornstarch to make it a tad thicker. Otherwise it was a good meal to make ahead and have ready when you got home from work. I served it with rice and eggrolls..

Momma OB's Chicken Chili

Reviewed: Feb. 16, 2004
This recipe was pretty good. I got it started too late to put in the crock pot so I cooked it on the stove in a big pot. There were a few changes I made. I added about 1/2 T of chili powder because the Italian seasonings overpowered the taste and I omitted the water. I also didn't rinse the chili beans and next time I may add 2 cans chili beans and omit the kidney beans. It took about 2 hours on the stove to thicken up. The chicken started to shredd and was very tender so I may shredd it more next time. I added sour cream and shredded Mexican blend cheese when I served it. My husband liked it and I will probably make it again

Steak Salad

What an easy recipe...I made it easier by using leftover filet mignon. My husband and daughter loved the dresing, it is requested for tossed salads and I keep it on hand for them...and myself. Really good!

Divine Meatloaf

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2004
Good recipe..I wasn't so sure at first. While mixing it just seemed like it may be dry, but it sure wasn't. And boy did it smell good cooking too. The ketchup sauce on top gave it a good flavor too. I did add a few sprinkles of Worchesteshire sauce too.

Angel Hair Pasta Chicken

Reviewed: Apr. 7, 2004
This was so easy, I've made the vegetables for a side dish. The only thing I would change is to add a sauce that sticks to the pasta...or make more of the chicken broth/parmesean mixture. That didn't coat the noodles enough, so the Alfredo sauce might have met this a little better.

Terrific Turkey Chili

Reviewed: Apr. 22, 2004
What a great recipe!! I wasn't paying attention and added a small can of tomato paste instead of 2TBS, but it turned out wonderful. I also added a can of black beans and red kidney beans. The flavor was wonderful and just the right amount of heat..Everyone loved it and I will definitely make this one again. Thanks

Chocolate Covered Easter Eggs

Reviewed: May 18, 2004
Although most of them were good, they were a lot of work. The cream and coconut were the best. The peanut butter and cocoa were drier, so I will add less next time. They did get better the longer they sat. Got a lot of compliments on these.

Oven Baked Jambalaya

This recipe makes enough for a crowd, so I split it into two pans, cooked one for the family, the other went into the freezer for a future meal. I plan on making this for our block party this June. Great flavor, made little changes to suit our tastes..Thanks

Wisconsin Bratwurst

Reviewed: Nov. 1, 2004
Thanks for this great recipe. I made it this weekend for an outdoor neighborhood Halloween get-together, and everyone loved them. I used both fresh brats and cheddar brats, more onions, less butter. Cooked them ahead of time, then everyone put them on a poker and roasted over an open fire pit. The onions were great for topping along with a brat mustard on a big old hoagie...Yum!!

Strawberry Champagne Punch

Reviewed: Jan. 15, 2005
I made this punch for New Year's Eve and it was delicious...however, I too made it more interesting and fun by using 2 champagne and only 1 ginger ale. I also made a ice ring with strawberries and ginger ale that kept it cold until it was gone!! Big hit with everyone. A definite for next year and maybe during the year, if the occasion arises.
