My favorite things to cook
I am enjoying canning: jellies, jams, apple sauces so far; all from the yield of my own property. I enjoy frying up some Maritime donuts. I like to make simple but well-rounded meals. I am learning to bake, especially breads and dessert squares.
My cooking triumphs
I cooked my first turkey all by myself for U.S. Thanksgiving 2011 in an oven that is currently 250°F hotter than what the dial reads! woo hoo!
My cooking tragedies
An apple brown betty baked in my oven that, I later found out, is 250°F hotter than what the dial reads - I knew it was hot, so tried to adjust the temperature and time, but I didn't realize HOW hot it was. It was a little crisper than I expected!
